RuneScape Expansion ‘Havenhythe’ Raises Bar for Iconic MMORPG

It’s hard to define how much RuneScape has meant to the online MMORPG genre and community. There are still players discovering the game in 2026, just as there are longtime ‘Scapers logging in regularly to play characters they’ve developed for decades. Now, over 25 years into their illustrious series, Jagex is launching its largest area expansion to date with Havenhythe, a massive update in both environments and activities for the game. Here’s what we know.

Havenhythe is a two-part expansion, with part two due later in 2026. Part one introduces two new mainline quests players can play through, including several new updates and things to do in the general region. This includes hunting in Havenhythe’s wild surroundings to expand the Hunter skill, a level cap increase to 110, two new boss encounters for early-game players, and fish farming as a new skilling activity.

The two mainline quests sound particularly interesting. Visions of Havenhythe and Hearts of Sanguine both help to establish the region and the threat facing its inhabitants. Alongside them are two standalone quests: Wiz Kid, in which players help a child called Ben pursue wizardry against his parents’ wishes, and Hermit Permits, where they help the crabs of Wendlewick, Havenhythe’s largest settlement, solve a housing problem. With nice additions to story content as well as the added hunting and finishing skill activities, I think fans will have plenty to do, even if part two isn’t due until later in the year.

While part two might be months away, the first adventures in Havenhythe are available now!
