SoulStream Saga Devs Announce Prologue Demo

If there’s anything I keep an eye on like a bloodhound to chicken, it’s a good JRPG. Indie RPGs usually have a good vibe to them and at least attempt to meld the ideas of yesteryear with modern conventions. Now, the devs of the upcoming SoulStream Saga have announced a taste of their upcoming RPG.

After1mage 1nteractive (yes, 1’s instead of I’s) has announced a Prologue Demo for SoulStream Saga: Chapter 1. While we don’t know when SoulStream Saga’s first chapter will be released, we do know that the demo will be available sometime at the end of March. Here is what the press release says about SoulStream Saga and its demo:

“A brutal war has ravaged the capital city of Alestria. Rival factions, Mages and Alchemists, claim to fight for a better future, but many are simply using the conflict as an excuse for anarchy, while ordinary civilians pay the price.

Astarius Valcrest, a former Mage, believes unity is the only answer. He casts aside his title and leaves to study alchemy, returning years later with Alchaeon, a blade forged by his own hand and infused with both magic and alchemy. With it, he is determined to prove that unity, not division, will shape his city’s future.

A century later, the world he fought for stands. But Princess Victoria Lockewell’s father, the king, is descending into madness and threatening everything Astarius built. Desperate, she casts a forbidden incantation to revive him.

The prologue demo puts players in the shoes of Astarius Valcrest during the war that shaped Alestria, with all skills unlocked and Astarius at maximum level, giving a full taste of the ATB combat system before the main story begins. Wishlist here to be notified when it’s live.”

It’s interesting that SoulStream Saga is only announcing its first chapter, and that the demo is actually a prologue to the main story. Hopefully that means that the demo will be available for a while, instead of being a limited-time thing. Regardless, I am intrigued by what I’m seeing so far.
