As I sit and watch F1 testing, because I am criminally insane, I want to highlight that everyone needs a bit of therapy. Be it actual therapy with a professional, retail therapy (#Capitalism), friend therapy, watching Ted Lasso on an endless loop, or just getting everything out in a diary, therapy is something everyone needs at some point in their life. Maybe not with a vampire, but if being sucked to death sounds like something enjoyable, then you’ll be happy to know you’ll get that on console now and next month. Some people would pay good money to be sucked to death.

Alexx and David have spoken plenty about Little Bat Games and Ultimate Games S.A.’s Vampire Therapist, a dark comedy visual novel where you play as a Wild West cowboy-come-therapist. I haven’t, mostly because I’ve been busy, on top of my typical pickiness with visual novels. That said, I am looking forward to it eventually, and here is what the press release has to say on the console release:
“Little Bat Games, in partnership with Ultimate Games S.A., is thrilled to announce that its BAFTA-nominated visual novel adventure through the (im)mortal mind, Vampire Therapist, is [now on] PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch […], before arriving on Xbox in March.

Released on PC in 2024, Vampire Therapist sees players take on the role of a reformed Wild West gunslinger-slash-vampire, as they guide their fellow undead spawn through the twists and turns of an immortal existence. The world may not accept them, but perhaps they can learn to accept themselves.
Vampire Therapist launches on consoles complete with the base game, all free content updates, and the Couples Therapy DLC included. The game has also been revamped with improved controller support, so console players can sink into their chaise longue (other sofa types are available) and enjoy Vampire Therapist in relaxed repose.”

From a therapy perspective, there is a lot going for Vampire Therapist as it employs certain aspects of that in its design philosophy. As well as a unique setting and cast of colorful characters, from a gunslinging therapist, an English Daniel Jackson-looking researcher, an Italian Renaissance financer of da Vinci, a Shakespearean actor, and an Irish streamer, to name a few. All voiced by an all-star cast: Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Baldur’s Gate 3), Francesca Meaux (Hades), Sarah Grayson (Gone Home, Hades II), Kylie Clark, and the game’s creator, Cyrus Nemati (Hades, Pyre).
Available now for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and of course, on PC. However, those looking to play Vampire Therapist on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One have to wait until March 5th.
