Monster Hunter Wilds is about to celebrate its 1st anniversary next week. Capcom found major success with the latest entry in the kill-to-craft global smash franchise, and the upcoming content released around its birthday should offer plays plenty of reasons to return to the game if they’ve taken a break. Here’s an overview of all of the Monster Hunter Wilds 1st anniversary content on its way.

A major expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds is in development, according to a video message from series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. In the meantime, the game will receive major content updates to mark the title’s 1st anniversary. To start, Arkveld is coming into the Forbidden Lands and offers an extreme 10-star challenge for Hunters with HR100+. Upon completion of this quest, hunters will receive materials for a powerful Gamma armor set and unlock 10★ quests featuring each Apex predator.

Additionally, from February 18 to March 19, players can celebrate the 1st anniversary of Monster Hunter Wilds with special log-in bonuses, the Special Supplies: Hunter Appreciation Pack, and a weekly rotation of the seasonal Festival of Accord events. Event quests during this time will yield players great items and quests, including materials for the dazzling Gala Suit α armor set for your Hunter and Felyne Star α Palico equipment.

While many might have their eyes on Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, releasing March 13, I think Monster Hunter Wilds is a blast. I loved it in my review last year, and the game has moved 11 million units. According to financial calls, Capcom is concerned that 10 million of those sales, which arrived in its first month on shelves, indicate a strong start followed by a significant decline in momentum. It seems like this anniversary update, along with the upcoming expansion, couldn’t come at a better time for the company and for players.
