Fangtopia PC Demo Preview

Over our holiday break, I took my time to dip into some games I didn’t have time for late in the year. One of those games was the demo for Fangtopia, a game that reminded me a lot of Dorfromantik. While we don’t have a release date for Fangtopia yet, it has a lot of potential.

Fangtopia is a city/island builder similar to games like Dorfromantik and Islanders. You earn points by placing tiles to build up matching things like forests, plains, railroads, etc. You can also hit milestones by reaching points to create spooky creatures and landmarks that you then unlock by accumulating different criteria. It is a fairly simple concept and a fairly fun loop.

The demo is open-ended, but small so far. Truthfully, it is just a taste of the full game, which will have over 40 landmarks and creatures from werewolves to yetis and more. The developers also plan to offer leaderboards and all sorts of updates and content once the game is released.

The visuals are cute and convey the spooky vibe perfectly. This, combined with the soundtrack, weaves a mix of cozy vibes along with the spooky theme. It is perfect for people who love Halloween and want to experience the spooky season all year long.

With that said, Fangtopia’s demo is fairly limited, so this is truly only a taste of what Fangtopia has to offer. I can see the vision, and it will definitely appeal to Dorfromantik fans, but it can definitely be improved with future updates.

I can’t wait to see what Fangtopia looks like upon its full release. The devs aren’t planning for it to come to Early Access as far as I’m aware, so whatever we get at release will be the main meat and potatoes prior to any post-launch updates. Here’s hoping that Fangtopia gets a bit more time in the oven to add more content, so that the full release is a meaty slice of spooky pie.
