It is that time again, y’all. The menacing sound of “Ho, Ho, Ho” reaches our ears, and we know Christmas shopping is here. So, in the effort to help with Black Friday and beyond, I have a few potential ideas of things you can check out ahead of time. There is also a little bit of info on Cyber Monday and Black Friday stuff, so you’ll be able to look ahead.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure – This is a perfect option for any fans of cozy gaming or Animal Crossing! You’ll join Hello Kitty and friends on an island that you’ll both explore and expand. Now, you can pick up the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Gift Box, which contains the Deluxe Edition of the game, as well as a Critter and Fish guide, double-sided poster, and more! Plus, you can choose either a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, or PC version to suit the cozy gamer in your life.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – If you’re the type to love JRPGs, but you want something just a little different, Expedition 33 is perfect. No doubt landing on many people’s Game of the Year lists, Expedition 33 oozes a painterly French atmosphere while landing all the mechanical beats of JRPGs of yesteryear. On top of that, it boasts a unique story that will keep you and any potential RPG-lover on the edge of your seat.

Megabonk – Know someone who loves Bullet Heavens like Vampire Survivors, but needs something new and fresh? Megabonk blends the chaos of Vampire Survivors with the 3D movement of Risk of Rain 2. It has a special twist to it, too. I can’t put my finger on it, but it is far more than just a “one more run” experience. It is being consistently updated, and while it is only on PC right now, it is a great gift for someone who primarily plays PC games or plays on a Steam Deck.

Sultan’s Game – If you’re looking for something a little more narrative-focused, with a darker tint to it, Sultan’s Game is a perfect gift. While it is PC only right now, it offers hours of branching storylines and a darker, more adult experience.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake – As another classic RPG, this caters to the more RPG-focused gamers in your life. However, as a JRPG remake of two classic games, this offers both a classic experience as well as a modernized option for the newer fans of the Dragon Quest franchise. If you know someone who loves Dragon Quest 11, or even someone who played the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake last year, this is a great option.

I could list dozens of other great options from this year. 2025 has been a great year full of great games. Honorable mentions are games like CloverPit, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Hades II. With Steam Sales, Cyber Monday, and more coming, there are a lot of great games to keep an eye on for sale time.
