I’m a huge fan of keeping up with the latest and greatest in headphone technology. As someone who loves music, I’m always picking up audiobooks, podcasts, and games; there’s not a whole lot of the day when I’m not listening to something. When it comes to the workday, I’m also having to hop on calls with peers and collaborators, making a good pair of headphones a must for audio quality and microphone performance. When it comes to hot names in the world of high-performance audio, the Status Pro X earbuds are grabbing a lot of eyes and ears, so I’ve spent a few weeks giving them a shot and feel confident these are going to be in my regular rotation.

Status is a company that has put out a few really great pairs of earbuds, including the Between 3ANC and Between Pro. The Pro X is the next iteration of the company’s aim for style and fidelity. Boosted by a 12mm dynamic driver, these are powerful earbuds. However, they are also ergonomically designed to be small and slimmer than other options. In terms of looks, the Pro X earbuds’ design and style are next-level and could fit just as well in a corporate setting as in your everyday look. With a High-Res Wireless Audio certification from the Japan Audio Society, there’s a lot to love about how these perform across use cases.
For conversations, such as meetings or phone calls, Ambient Aware mode utilizes both Active Noise Canceling and Transparency features to keep you engaged with everything around you, as well as the person you’re speaking with. Paired with a companion app for iOS and Android, the Pro X earbuds offer a full EQ suite for customization, along with other features. Voiceloom AI Speech Enhancement also utilizes neural net training to filter out background noise it identifies as unnecessary for your ears. That way, you’re focused on the conversation, not the hundreds of distracting things happening around you.
For music, I found the ANC and the 8 hours of performance per case charge to be more than sufficient. The size of these headphones really helps you forget they’re in your ears, letting you listen to your favorite songs while working or gaming pain-free for longer. We’ve all had earbuds that feel good even once you take them out of your ears, but the ergonomics of the Status Pro X earbuds are really built for comfort as much as for performance. Audio clarity is easily top-of-the-line on calls or meetings, but it also comes in clutch for music. There’s about as much support for highs and lows as you’d expect from an earbud, making it a good all-around option for audio.
Easy connections, including simultaneous connections to multiple devices, work very well here. I wish in 2025 we didn’t have to talk about Bluetooth devices still having trouble connecting, but we do. The Status Pro X earbuds connect easily and consistently, thanks to Bluetooth 5.3 and really great bitrates. I was loving these as quick options for gaming sessions on my Nintendo Switch 2, and it was fun to hop over to skate. for a bit without having to worry about the earbuds failing to transfer over to another console. In their matte black finish, I also think it’s worth noting how great these look as an on-the-go gamer headphone, not to mention that in-game chat sounds wonderful.

I think for a lot of us, the ease of a pair of earbuds surpasses the weight, size, and stress of an over-the-ear headphone. Too often, we’re forced to sacrifice quality for these smaller options, but the Staus Pro X does a great job bringing the features you love from your favorite audiophile devices and putting them in the palm of your hands. The Status Pro X earbuds are available now for $299 USD direct from Status Audio as well as Amazon. Let us know in the comments if you’re planning to check these new headphones out!
