My fellow denizens of Azeroth, I hope you’re as excited to go back in time as I am. Blizzard Entertainment has finally decided to publicly confirm the dates during which the upcoming World of Warcraft: Legion Remix event will be active. Legion Remix will launch alongside the Patch 11.2.5 content update, which will add (among other things) five new character slots to every WoW account. If you’re anything like me and you tend to go way overboard in terms of creating new characters for events like this, that probably particularly appeals to you. Let’s get to the rest of the details!
Patch 11.2.5 and Legion Remix will both be live after the conclusion of weekly maintenance on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, or your regional equivalent of that time. The event will then remain playable until January 19th, 2026. Blizzard’s estimates of when maintenance will begin and end haven’t yet been published as of this article’s publication. I’ll offer the same advice I usually do in cases like this: I wouldn’t recommend taking the day off work to play as soon as servers are back online.
There is a chance that maintenance will end much sooner than Blizzard estimated, but there’s also just as much of a chance that they’ll have to extend WoW’s maintenance period far beyond their original prediction. You might remember that, even though last year’s Mists of Pandaria Remix event was added to WoW alongside a content patch, Mists Remix wasn’t actually available to play until the following week. As far as I can tell, however, that won’t be the case this time: Patch 11.2.5 and Legion Remix will both be playable as soon as maintenance ends on the same day.
If you’re not familiar with Remix events in World of Warcraft, you might be wondering what’s so special about this event. The gist of it is as follows: Players will be able to create new characters (called “Timerunners”) to help the Infinite Dragonflight study and learn from the timeline of events that occurred during the Legion expansion. To allow us to help them do that more efficiently, the Infinite Dragonflight has granted us a boon that makes our characters absurdly powerful. Characters will quickly and easily gain amounts of every available stat that are far beyond their normal limits in Legion Remix.
As you play through Legion Remix, you’ll also be able to easily acquire cosmetic goodies like mounts and transmog sets that may have been particularly difficult and/or time-consuming to get when Legion was current. You’ll go about doing this by visiting Infinite Dragonflight vendors and spending an event-specific currency called Bronze that you can earn by doing just about anything in Legion Remix, from routine quests to Mythic+ raids. Characters will be able to go from level 10 to 80 in this accelerated version of the Legion expansion and become increasingly overpowered as we do so.
We’ll also get to relive (or experience for the first time) everything unique and loved about the Legion expansion. This includes things like class-specific Artifact Weapons and Order Halls that help add to the fantasy of each class and combat specialization. On that subject, I should note that the Evoker class will not be playable in Legion Remix because that class didn’t exist in Legion, so Evokers don’t have any of that class-specific stuff. However, every race and class combination (including unlockable Allied Races) except Evokers will be playable in Legion Remix. That’s really handy for unlocking Heritage Armor sets.
In Mists of Pandaria Remix, the Infinite Dragonflight gave players an equippable cloak that was the source of our ridiculously high power levels. In Legion Remix, however, each class specialization’s Artifact Weapon will fill that role instead. All Artifact Weapons will be able to unlock traits from the same five trees — Fel, Holy, Arcane, Storm, and Nature — which players can freely change at any time. I also want to mention that there’s one potential difference between Pandaria Remix and Legion Remix that Blizzard hasn’t addressed as of the time of writing, and that could affect the Legion Remix experience for many players.
In Mists Remix, all professions except for Fishing were unavailable, and players could not leave Pandaria by any means. Blizzard hasn’t yet said anything on either of these subjects in Legion Remix as of this article’s publication. Even though all Order Halls can be accessed either via portals in Broken Isles Dalaran or via class-specific teleportation abilities, there’s at least one Order Hall that would theoretically allow players to venture outside of Legion zones if Blizzard doesn’t prevent players from doing so. I’ll be particularly interested to see how things shake out in regards to both of these topics as we approach the launch of Legion Remix.
There are a few notable points I didn’t mention in this article for brevity’s sake, but there are plenty of resources available online that will likely answer any remaining questions you may have about World of Warcraft: Legion Remix. As a starting point, I’ll direct you to both Blizzard’s official announcement post and the well-respected World of Warcraft fan site known as Wowhead. I hope to see many of our readers join me once Legion Remix is live. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to stretch my muscles because I’ve got a four-month-long Timerunning marathon coming up quite soon.
