There are quite a few restaurant and food truck simulators on digital game storefronts, but very few are presenting you with the challenge of running a restaurant through deckbuilding. In what seems to be an entertaining and unique spin on the deck-builder genre, Mage Food Truck is releasing on September 24 on Steam. It caught my eye immediately thanks to a unique gameplay spin and colorful, unique art design. Best of all? One person is behind almost all of the impressive work on this game. Here’s what you need to know!
In Mage Food Truck, players will experience a roguelike deckbuilder that is all about crafting exotic dishes. While using your growing card collection to explore a vibrant fantasy realm, you’ll work to earn enough gold for a rave review while fighting off beasts that look to be your downfall. Players will hone their skills in three tutorial “snack” maps to introduce your crew, plus two longer “entrée” maps.
As you traverse the realm, collect ingredients, craft recipes, and cash them in for gold, added challenges like reduced shields against monster attacks and other threats help up the difficulty, promising a ton of replayability. One Man Left, the solo developer also known as Adam Stewart, is handling the art, programming, sound design, and most character voices for Mage Food Truck. His shipped titles include the Tilt to Live series, Outwitters, Space Food Truck, and Hex Gambit: Respawned.
