I’ve been playing a lot of games on mobile lately, so I thought it might be fun to start tracking some of the newer releases that are taking up a significant amount of my screen time. We’re going to start with three recently released games I’m enjoying, and I’d love to hear if there are any you’re currently hooked on in the comments below. Let’s get started with one I know gamers across multiple platforms are really enjoying lately.
Is This Seat Taken? – Poti Poti Studio
If you didn’t read Alexx’s review for PC, you might not know that it is one of the most charming, enjoyable puzzle games of the last few years. You’re simply placing folks where they’d prefer to sit based on a few key preferences. While you start with a simple bus and navigating who wants a window seat or who needs to be in a quiet section of the vehicle, you move on to really creative and captivating scenes, full of humor and a story that is very well executed. If you’re looking for a game you can play in spurts that is going to feel like a breath of fresh air every time, look no further.
NFL Retro Bowl ’26 – New Star Games
Available only on Apple Arcade, this is a fun way to get your football fix on the go with a bit of a nostalgic flair. While you can play Madden NFL as a mobile game, this version stylizes the game with a retro look, still featuring authentic rosters and NFL players. Weekly matchups, including the actual 2025 NFL schedule, provide an opportunity to compete against other players and strive to boost your team up the live leaderboard standings against all other players and their favorite teams. I’m having fun with this one so far, making it another great reason to keep Apple Arcade as a must-have subscription.
Destiny: Rising – NetEase Games
Lastly, the first-ever mobile game in the Destiny franchise seems to be a hit with mobile gamers, including myself. Mobile shooters are not often my cup of tea, and to be honest, Destiny hasn’t been either. That said, I’m finding the game to be fun and a really great experience with a controller. You won’t trick yourself into thinking this might be a mainline entry, but the gunplay, movement, and cutscenes in the early-game story look and feel pristine. I can see a lot of people sticking with this one for a while, especially if they’re eager for more Destiny.
