The second chapter of World of Warcraft’s Worldsoul Saga is nearly upon us. World of Warcraft: Midnight is available for pre-order now, though its actual release date hasn’t yet been concretely announced. As has become the norm with new World of Warcraft expansions, there are three different editions of Midnight you can choose from. Each of these editions comes with both increasing levels of bonus goodies and increasing price tags. I’ve prepared a brief summary of the details of World of Warcraft: Midnight’s different editions and what they’ll get you in return for different amounts of cash. Let’s begin!
Up first is the Base Edition, which will cost you $49.99 USD. As you’ve probably guessed by the presence of the word “base,” this is the most bare-bones of the three editions of Midnight. Nevertheless, it still includes a couple of nice touches. Pre-ordering the Base Edition of Midnight will get you the Midnight expansion itself (obviously), as well as its predecessor, The War Within if you don’t already own that. It’ll also give you an “enhanced” level 80 character boost, early access to Midnight’s player housing system, and 500 Trader’s Tender you can spend at the in-game Trading Post for monthly cosmetic goodies.
Then there’s the Heroic Edition, which will set you back $69.99 USD. Pre-ordering the Heroic Edition will give you everything in the Base Edition plus an extra 500 Trader’s Tender (for a total of 1000), as well as the Lightwing Dragonhawk flying mount and the Lightstrider Raiment cosmetic transmog set. Finally, there’s the Epic Edition, with an equally “epic” price tag of $89.99 USD. I should note that if you pre-order the Base or Heroic editions, that purchase will be reflected if you decide to upgrade to a higher tier at a later date. That’s handy if you’re unsure about buying the Epic Edition right away.
The Epic Edition offers everything in the other two editions plus all of the following: An extra 1000 Trader’s Tender (for a total of 2000), the Hopeflutter and Doomfeathers pets, two additional flying mounts called the Voidwing Dragonhawk and the Voidlight Surger, several pieces of exclusive decor for use with Midnight’s player housing system, guaranteed access to Midnight’s beta version, three days of early access to Midnight once it launches, and 30 days’ worth of game time. In closing, I think it would be a massive missed opportunity if Blizzard ultimately doesn’t hold a midnight launch event for Midnight.
