I think we are all aware that a lot of games are released month over month. There are so many that sometimes I can’t keep track of everything that is coming. A new game, set to release next month, caught my eye, however.

Tokyo Underground Killer is set to release on September 5^th, and is a “fever-dream-inspired” Cyberpunk Action Game. Even better still is that Tokyo Underground Killer has a vampire in it, which hits all the right notes for me. Here is what the press release says about Tokyo Underground Killer:

“Game developer Phoenix Game Productions, in collaboration with co-publishers 3DM Games and Gone Shootin, today announced that the fever-dream-inspired cyberpunk action game Tokyo Underground Killer will launch worldwide on Steam on September 5, 2025, priced at $9.99.

Players step into the role of Kobayashi, the feared ‘Shinjuku Vampire’ — a notorious assassin for Japan’s most powerful crime syndicate, Gokuraku. Cut your way through Tokyo’s back alleys in lightning-fast sword fights, harness 10 supernatural Blood Skills to summon fire tornadoes or drain enemies’ life force, and master unlockable abilities to defeat 10 uniquely challenging bosses.

To celebrate this announcement, the team has released a brand-new gameplay video, offering the most in-depth look yet at the game’s adrenaline-fueled katana combat and the gritty life of protagonist Kobayashi in Tokyo’s crime-infested underworld — a place where dazzling neon lights meet unflinching, brutal violence.

The game is fully voiced in English and Japanese, featuring an all-star Japanese cast including the legendary Hidekatsu Shibata (Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball) as Ishihara — Kobayashi’s ruthless crime boss.”

Also celebrating this announcement, Daniel Hedjazi, Studio Head and Director at Phoenix Game Productions, commented on the game’s release, stating: “Creating this game was our dream and passion for many years. We can’t wait for players to finally experience our violent, fever-dreamish vision of Tokyo.

I’m interested in Tokyo Underground Killer. It strikes me as a wild, interesting idea that hopefully mixes cyberpunk vibes with Tokyo and supernatural elements. It seems like a less-weird version of Ghostwire Tokyo, which I still hope receives a sequel at some point. Regardless, we don’t have long to wait for Tokyo Underground Killer’s release.
