Monday, Cook Serve Forever released out of early access. Tuesday, Dream Garden will let you build your own karesansui, and Formula Legends got a release date for next month and has a demo available now. On Wednesday, details arose on a new Kirby game for the three people who care, and of course, it is coming to the Switch 2. While WoW: The War Within got its 11.2 update. I guess updating a game from 2004 sounds like a better idea to Microsoft than keeping 10,000 people hired. Oh, and Alexx did the coverage of the Nintendo Direct last Friday.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store for this week, I once again need to disclose that I did, at one point, receive a key for Road Redemption for the PS4. I could joke that it was released in 1991, but a few among you would believe that and not understand it is a reference to the 1991-2000 series by EA, Road Rash. Yes, I know about the 2009 mobile game; it is EA after the year 2007, when the money people really became a problem. The general premise was that you had a motor-bicycle and a heavy chain, so kill people.
Maybe we should grab the latest moral panic parade by the shoulders, shake them, and say, “Do you see us doing this? No. Well, maybe calm down and leave the majority of us alone, you creepy little wannabe control freaks.” No, I’m still not over the Online Safety Act nonsense. Developed by Redemption Road, Road Redemption wants to be the spiritual successor to the Road Rash series, but I can’t quite pin down the exact game. If I wanted to be mean, I’d say the original, since the graphical style is that of three console generations ago.
Road Redemption isn’t bad, it is quite fun if I remember correctly. It was messy, but hitting someone in the head with a lead pipe while you are going Mach-Jesus on a bike is fun when it has a satisfying thunk sound. It’s stupid, is my point, and if you know what I’m about to say. First off you’re a wizard (hopefully not a terfy one), and second off, the team are set to release their second game, Kingmakers. That’s the stupid fun sandbox thing where you have an automatic rifle in the Middle Ages.
Onto the second offering, and it is Jutsu Games’ 2020 title, 112 Operator. Available both on the Epic Games Store for mobile via Android globally and iOS in the EU, as well as the Epic Games Store for PC. The basic concept is that you are an emergency services phone operator, and you have to send out the fire department, ambulances, and even the police. I’d like to make it sound more interesting or highly intense, but I’m afraid that’s kind of difficult with such a simple game concept that is done through branching text dialogs.
All this week, you can pick up Road Redemption and 112 Operator on the Epic Games Store for PC, as well as Android and iOS for the latter, until the 14th of August. Moving on to the next offerings on the Epic Games Store, we’ll start with the repeat of the party game Totally Reliable Delivery Service Standard Edition. If you are like me and hate hanging out with people, you might like the second offering next week, Adriaan de Jongh’s Hidden Folks.
