For Nintendo Switch 2 early adopters, owners of the new console will have access to an expanded version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is a bit of a word salad. Still, it does include some significant updates to an excellent Switch game, including performance enhancements and a new mode. Here’s everything to expect about what Star-Crossed World is and why the latest Kirby game might be worth double-dipping as a Switch 2 owner.

In Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, an added mode is Star Crossed World. Much akin to Bowser’s Fury in the Switch port of Super Mario 3D World, Star-Crossed World is a new way to experience the game with the added benefit of graphics and performance boosts. When a meteor crashes, it’s up to Kirby to traverse brand-new Starry Stages that transform familiar locations from the base game. With opportunities to use all-new Mouthful Modes to reach new areas, as well as other surprises, you’ll get to see the original Switch game in a whole new way.

In the trailer revealed this week for the game, we see the Mouthful Modes in Star-Crossed World give you new ways to move around the altered levels.

In addition to Star-Crossed World, Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will include enhancements as well. Some of these are game mode-related, including an expanded Ultimate Cup mode for replaying boss battles, as well as an EX version of the gatcha machine in-game to collect different items and objects.

The major appeal of the new Switch 2 version of the game, however, is the increased frame rate and improved graphics. From the video above, I think the updates are evident. It’s already a joy playing first-party Switch games on the new console, but games that got a dedicated boost like Tears of the Kingdom are noticeably better.
