Given all that I’ve seen of Ready or Not recently, I think it is only right I say, “Cry censorship and let slip the ill-informed of the internet.” That “censorship” is displaying an old man with his old fella out, showing a child on drugs, making illusions to explicit photos of children, and naked women being sex trafficked. You know, the type of thing that stops a game from being on normal storefronts like PlayStation or Xbox because they seemingly have slightly (just slightly) higher standards, as well as stricter laws in some places. Well, out now on PlayStation and Xbox, Ready or Not released onto consoles yesterday.
“Out now, Ready or Not tasks players to become an elite SWAT commander and bring order to a city overwhelmed by chaos and corruption. Players lead a team of highly-trained SWAT officers through unpredictable high-risk missions against ruthless criminals to prevent the city from spiralling into disorder. Equip real-world weapons and gear to tackle missions inspired by current events against Los Sueňos’ ruthless criminal element. Ready or Not is fully accessible to squad up across platforms for crossplay.”
Currently available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, there was also a recently announced Physical Edition set to release for consoles on August 8th. Boasting 18 single-player missions plus two new free DLC update missions as part of “Los Sueños Stories,” as well as the “Dark Water” and “Home Invasion” DLCs, each offering three tailored experiences to their own stories. Some of which add on to the main plot a little more, others are a bit separate.
If you’ve watched 2017’s S.W.A.T. or David Boreanaz’s SEAL Team and think that Ready or Not is missing out on things like mansions (ones that are less creepy) and maybe an oil rig, both DLCs offer something special in those regards. This is on top of the fact that the base game has some great missions like “Sins of the Father,” “Ides of March,” and “Relapse.”
The console release of Ready or Not just means the player base for those who play the multiplayer in open lobbies (psychos) will expand, and more people get a chance to play a great game. You can pick up the base game in the standard edition of Ready or Not for $49.99 (€49.99/£44.99), or get the Day One Edition for the same price, which offers the pre-order bonus of the M32A1, MK-V, and 590M. The Deluxe Edition of Ready or Not, for $69.99 (€69.99/£59.99) gets you the base game, the pre-order bonuses, the soundtrack, and three DLCs, including the as yet unannounced third.
In a detailed post to the “Los Sueños Stories” free DLC update on Steam, the team also notes that the console release pre-order bonuses are available on PC for free as part of this update.
