I’ll admit, I do quite like it when games are showcased in different, yet interesting, locations that make sense. GIANTS Software and Straight4 Studios’ Project Motor Racing is both something we’ve covered a few times now and is about to take an interesting turn, offering people their first chance to get hands-on with it at Goodwood. More properly known as the world-famous (among racing fans) Goodwood Festival of Speed, there is more than racing history going to be climbing up the hill at Goodwood this weekend.
Taking place from Thursday the 10th to Sunday the 13th of July, the Festival of Speed will, of course, be at the Goodwood Estate in Chichester, West Sussex. Alongside the timed runs up the hill of many different cars of racing history, from Formula racing, GT, and even the world of Rally, those in attendance will also get the chance to play Project Motor Racing at the festival. This is what the press release said:
“Festival-goers will have the exclusive opportunity to test drive the latest build of Project Motor Racing on three high-performance racing rigs, fully equipped with steering wheels, pedals, and the full sim setup. You’ll get behind the wheel of four incredible cars featured in the racing sim: the Lola T70 Mk3B GT, Aston Martin DBR9, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, and Panoz LMP1 Roadster S.
One of the game’s most detailed tracks will be available for racing, faithfully recreated by the team using state-of-the-art track scanning and environmental modelling. Whether you’re chasing lap times or just feeling the power, this is your chance to get a real taste of what’s coming.” There is no word on what track that will be, but of the confirmed tracks on the game’s website, it could be Zolder, Lime Rock, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, or Kyalami. It could also be Silverstone or the Nürburgring, both said to be part of Project Motor Racing.
Famous faces will also be on-hand at the booth to guide and talk about motorsports, one previously wearing an all-white get-up on a small show called Top Gear, and the other is the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans winner. This is what the press release says: “Joining the action at Goodwood will be British racing stars Ben Collins and Johnny Herbert, who will be on hand at the booth to share tips, insights, and stories from their time on the track. Whether you’re a seasoned sim racer or a motorsport enthusiast, it’s your chance to learn from the best and push your driving skills to the limit.“
So, where is this taking place? According to the press release, you’ll want to find Stand 8, “right by the start line of the iconic Goodwood Hillclimb.” If you can’t make it to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, because why would anyone ever want to go to West Sussex, Project Motor Racing is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 25th, 2025. So we don’t have to wait too long for the release and to go hands-on ourselves. Are you going to Goodwood this weekend? Will you be going to the Project Motor Racing booth? Tell us below.
