As someone who’s been looking to get into the legendary Heroes of Might and Magic series, I’ve been keeping my eye on the upcoming title and general discourse surrounding the series. Generally, most people seem to think that Ubisoft has mishandled the franchise since acquiring the rights to the series in 2003, and the latest two games left a lot to be desired from fans.

However, there is a lot to be excited about for the upcoming game Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. Ubisoft has partnered with a relatively new studio, Unfrozen, to help work on the game. This week, it was announced that they will be handing publishing rights to Hooded Horse. This studio is known for various titles within the strategy game space, such as Manor Lords, 9 Kings, Old World, Against the Storm, and more.

Alain Corre, Chief Publishing Officer at Ubisoft, had this to say in regards to the deal. “We are thrilled to welcome Hooded Horse aboard to support the next chapter of Heroes of Might and Magic. Their passion for the franchise and strong connection with strategy communities make them the perfect complement to Unfrozen’s creative talent. Together, we’ll reignite Heroes of Might and Magic and bring players to exciting, unexplored realms.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will be entering early access later this year on PC. The newest game is set on a new continent called Jadame, which was previously mentioned within the older titles but was never fleshed out. Players can expect the game to feature a variety of new biomes, factions, and creatures to contend with. So far, there are three confirmed factions. The Sylvan lead a collective of fey creatures and elemental nature spirits.

Meanwhile, the Necropolis utilizes hordes of undead led by powerful necromancer lords and vampires. Finally, the Dungeon faction offers a menagerie of various monsters and people, such as Medusa, Hydras, Minotaurs, Dragons, and Dark Elves for a diverse range of playstyles. You can wishlist Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era on Steam right now. Hopefully, in the future the game will expand to other platforms post launch.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
