I have been covering Session: Skate Sim over its three-year span of support (so far). The development team has made a variety of updates, including participating in (and holding) community events by adding maps and more. Now, kicking off year three, we have a new update.
As the first major update for Session: Skate Sim’s 3rd year, the Foundation update is now available. It is available now on PC and consoles for the game’s audience of 3.5 million players. Here is what the press release says about the Foundation update:
“NACON and creā-ture Studios are thrilled to announce the release of Foundation, the first in a series of major updates for Session: Skate Sim as part of its third year of support. It is available today on consoles and PC for more than 3.5 million players.
Foundation is part of a series of updates aimed at improving gameplay, enriching the game with new community-requested features, and integrating quality-of-life improvements to further cement Session: Skate Sim‘s status as a benchmark in the genre.
The Foundation update introduces a complete camera overhaul, offering better angles and smoother tracking of the player, both during movement and while performing tricks across various spots. Additionally, it enhances the skater’s physical animations, making movements on the board more realistic and natural.
The Sewers map, which was last available in 2023, is located in the [underground] of New York City and created in collaboration with the world’s most famous mutant turtles, is making a big comeback—and is now accessible for free to all players.
Session: Skate Sim invites players to dive into the genuine 1990s skateboarding way of life, when each stretch of pavement and each stairway was a great location for your favorite stunt. The game’s ultra-realistic physics brings the sensations of skateboarding to life, and the studio has even integrated ground-breaking gameplay, a first in a skateboarding game: the “True Stance Stick,” where each foot is independently managed using the two sticks.
With a learning curve that is just as demanding as in real life, players have to practice how to control their board and pull off all the different stunts available in the game, from the simplest to the most complicated. The integrated editing tool lets each player immortalize their greatest achievements on video.”
In addition to the Foundation update for Session, you can also purchase the DLCs for Year 1 and Year 2. These offer 7 additional maps, exclusive outfits and boards, as well as a few other surprises. This is not the only DLC planned for this year, so fans of Session have more to look forward to.
