IO Interactive Reveals New James Bond Game Title

IO Interactive is known to be working on a James Bond game, but up until this week, that’s just about all we knew. Everything from the title to the release date is weighing heavily on the minds of fans of the spy thriller series. Little conceptual breadcrumbs have been fed to us regarding this highly anticipated title from the Hitman studio. Now, we are likely days away from a big reveal, as IO Interactive has revealed the title of their upcoming release. Here’s what we know about the upcoming game, 007 First Light, and when we can expect to learn more about the release.

In a post on X, IO Interactive revealed the title of their new James Bond game: 007 First Light. The official game reveal will likely occur this week during Summer Game Fest. While the official reveal will most likely give us the most information on the title we have to date, we know a few things right now. Firstly, the game was officially announced in 2020 and will serve as an origin story. In addition to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, we also know that 007 First Light was featured and announced for Nintendo during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. Beyond those tidbits, we will be eager to learn more during the upcoming release.

The Hitman franchise, most recently rebooted in a trilogy of fantastic games, will also serve as a launch title for Switch 2 this week. Hitman: World of Assassination combines the three most recent titles into a collection that will be available on the new Nintendo console. The series is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. With a straightforward recipe for success to work off of, hopes are high that 007 First Light will be the start of something magical for the James Bond franchise.
