Monday, nothing happened because Geoff and his boyfriend are having a passionate celebration next week. Tuesday, Mortal Kombat 1 is Konsidered komplete, indeed, and NACON takes back control of the WRC games in a new multi-year partnership. Wednesday, 33 days on, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold 3.3 million units because getting out from under Ubisoft lets you make something great. Thursday, Wizard of Legend II finally got a full release date.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store for this week, the penultimate of this MEGA Sale thing, it’s not very special. We’ll start off with the cross-platform offering, available both on the Epic Games Store for PC and for mobile, Limbo. Many of us already have the title from a few years ago, and not just because it was the progenitor of this “push-right to progress a wordless story” genre. It was previously part of the Epic Games Store’s offerings when we started this nonsense in 2019. It’s fine, you’re never going to call it the second coming of gaming Christ.
Onto the second offering, and I thought we already had this one, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. If we’re cynical, then I’d say this is a PR stunt to try and redirect news away from Randy Pitchford suggesting Borderlands 4 will be $80 on launch and “only real fans” will find a way to spend that money. Or the EULA thing. I have a question though. Is this the same Randy Pitchford who had a 2018 legal case about leaving a USB drive in a Texas dinner theater back in 2014? I might be burning a 2K contact, but quite frankly, I hate Borderlands, and Pitchford is an idiot.
When it was announced, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was certainly exciting. Ashly Burch and Tina are the only good things to come out of the anarchic and pointless gameplay of Borderlands. When I say I don’t like the overall series, I mean with a burning white-hot passion. Legally, you have to after watching that film. However, Tina’s ID-like character and the idea of expanding Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure is great. It is like playing D&D with annoying, loud-mouthed idiots… So it’s like playing D&D.
All this week, you can pick up Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands on the Epic Games Store for PC as well as Limbo for PC and mobile via the Epic Games Store mobile app. Of course, as usual, you have until the morning of the 5th of June to claim both wherever you like. Next week should be the final mystery games before we return to… heaven only knows. Whatever it is, it’ll be joined by a mild shrug from across the room, followed by the sound of someone talking with a mouth full of marbles. At least there has been one decent week.
