Rogue-like sequels are sometimes tough to produce. You have to balance offering the things that made the original great while packing in new ideas and content. Now, after some time in Early Access, Wizard of Legend II’s release is on the horizon.

That’s right, Wizard of Legend II will be coming to Consoles (as well as hitting 1.0) on June 12th, 2025. Originally hitting Early Access in October of 2024, it will launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as 1.0 on PC. This 1.0 version will not only add the Chaos Biome, Chaos bosses, and the Final boss, but it will also expand on Multiplayer in online and local options. Here is what the press release says about the full release:

“The 1.0 update [for Wizard of Legend II] brings a wealth of gameplay enhancements that increase replayability and challenge. Players can now face the ultimate trial in the Chaos Biome, where they’ll battle minibosses and the new Final Boss. With over 75 Arcana to master, including the Chaos Arcana, players can experiment with different elemental combinations to craft their unique playstyle.

The addition of achievements, new contracts, and customization options ensures that every playthrough feels fresh and rewarding. Whether teaming up with friends for 4-player co-op or facing the trials alone, Wizard of Legend [II] offers endless strategic possibilities. The update also includes numerous bug fixes, optimizations, and balance adjustments to make the game smoother and more polished than ever before.”

Since coming into Early Access, Wizard of Legend II has added 4-player co-op gameplay. There has also been other content added, such as 12 new elemental arcana, new biomes and challenges, as well as quality of life upgrades based on player feedback. This attention to detail and player feedback makes Wizard of Legend II the best version of itself, at least that’s the goal anyway.

As a fan of the original game, I’m excited to give Wizard of Legend II a try. Hopefully, developer Dead Mage has taken the time needed to polish the game into a diamond worthy of accolades and praise. It’ll be interesting to see if this 1.0 update restores Wizard of Legend II’s “Mixed” reviews on Steam. Having played Monster Train 2 recently, it’s easy to see what a good Rogue-like sequel could be, given the time and attention.
