Monster Hunter Wilds To Add Street Fighter Gear

While franchise collaborations certainly aren’t new territory for Capcom, it is still fun to see. This week, Capcom announced a string of Street Fighter 6-related gear and cosmetics coming to Monster Hunter Wilds. These cosmetics will be available in the form of a free DLC update along with paid DLC.

The premier item for this batch of cosmetics is certainly the free Akuma skin. Not only does this make your character look like the Raging Demon himself, but it also allows you to play like him. You can expect to unleash signature moves like the Gou Hadoken and Gou Shoryuken by utilizing a special item. The damage of these attacks is determined by the weapon you have equipped.

The drive impact system from Street Fighter 6 has also been recreated here to truly sell the experience, allowing you to deliver devastating knockdowns to counter monsters at key moments. These rewards also come with the addition of a unique themed side quest, “Ultimate Strength,” as well as two arena quests titled “Demonic Strength” and “True Strength.” These offer additional rewards like extra gestures and animations for the Akuma armor set. This quest will only be available for Hunters of rank 21 or higher. The second free cosmetic is the Blanka- Chan Palico armor set and layered equipment, giving your feline companion a new look reflecting the cartoon version of Blanka himself.

In terms of paid DLC, this collaboration also offers a Chun-Li and Cammy outfit for the NPC companion, Alma, as well as some unique gestures depicting series protagonist Ryu’s most iconic moves: Hadoken, Shoryuken, and Tatsumaki Senpu-kyaku. Like Akuma’s moves, these can also be used in combat and adjust to the current weapons you have equipped. You can also expect minor cosmetics such as a sticker set and a Blanka doll. This collaboration will launch on Wednesday, May 28th. Monster Hunter Wilds is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
