The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is Out Now

The first game that I got truly lost in was The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It kickstarted my lifelong adoration for western RPGs and truly rewired my gaming brain. Now is a great time to return to the game, or try it for the first time, as Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios revealed and released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered today in a livestream. After 19 years, fans will return to Cyrodiil to enjoy the immersive RPG, featuring a range of quality-of-life enhancements and a stunning new visual treatment powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and the Xbox App for Windows PC), cloud, and PlayStation 5. The game also includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions. It’s also available day one with Game Pass and, with Xbox Play Anywhere, one purchase on an Xbox platform means you can play on Xbox consoles, Windows PC, and cloud with full cross-entitlements and cross-saves.

Designed with the studio Virtuos, Oblivion Remastered is essentially the best way to play this iconic adventure in 2025. Alongside 4K resolution and 60 FPS, Oblivion looks better than ever thanks to all-new textures, lighting effects, and landscape improvements. Oblivion Remastered also updates everything, from character, spell, and weapon animations to dynamic time of day and weather effects. Improvements to the HUD and things like enemy scaling will also be great to test out hands-on.

An enhanced experience, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition, offers players bonus quests, unique weapon and armor sets, a digital art book, and the official soundtrack. You can purchase this separately or as an upgrade to the base game. I’m really excited to try this one out and return back with some thoughts in the near future.
