I always like to use these articles to bring further attention to projects from independent creatives. Though I’ve never been too much into MMOs, I’ve enjoyed some from time to time and always pay attention to the genre when a new face enters the scene. This project caught my attention given its greater emphasis on action RPG elements, rather than large-scale servers containing thousands of players.

Legacy: Steel and Sorcery is developed by Notorious Games studio, a collection of ex-World of Warcraft players who also had a part in core operations for the game. The first demo for Legacy: Steel and Sorcery will launch on PC as part of Steam Next Fest, which runs from October 14 through the 21st. The demo will be free to all players so there’s no harm trying it out.

As the name suggests, this new title is set within a classical high fantasy setting of Mithrigarde. Selecting from a pool of traditional fantasy classes, players will venture out into this landscape filled with mystery and fight against ancient evil.

Chris Kaleiki, CEO of Notorious Studios had this to say in regards to the game: “Our goal was to build upon the foundations of RPG and MMO PvP into its own title, something we haven’t quite seen before. We incorporated many of the lessons and learnings from building one of the biggest MMOs of all time (World of Warcraft) into Legacy. Based on feedback we’ve had from players already, I think we have something special here and we can’t wait to share it with more and more players.”

Indeed, Legacy: Steel & Sorcery bears more similarities to something like Diablo than standard MMOs. Players will form parties of three and traverse dungeons while gathering gear for constant player progression. The real twist is the PVP aspect, as your team can be assaulted at any time by opposing parties hoping to steal your treasure. Each beautifully rendered map will contain a maximum of 24 players at one time, with the hub town of Stonehaven acting as a safe zone. I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
