Blending games together is kind of the MO of a lot of interesting ideas. High speed crash + how to make the most money out of an insurance claim = Burnout 3: Takedown‘s crash mode. bland colors + boring gunplay + kicking a dead horse in the name of #Random #Dark #Jokes = Borderlands. However, it seems there is a new blend of ideas being published by Mythright and developed by Wildflame Studio, called Cleaner Company.
A blend of Viscera Cleanup Detail and Lethal Company in a sci-fi co-op casing. Here is what the press release has to say about Cleaner Company:
“Zip up your hazmat suit and lather up your mop: sci-fi survival horror just got… soapy. Lift off for an intergalactic mission to clean up horrific deep space disaster zones in Cleaner Company, a sci-fi co-op cleaning sim coming to Steam and [the] Epic Games Store later this year. Sign up for the playtest today – the galaxy isn’t going to clean this monstrous mess itself.
As an elite member of the Star Wipers crew, strap on your cleaning tools and gear up for a grisly cleanup of horror hotspots across the galaxy. From eerie space stations, to ruined restaurants[,] and ominous undiscovered planets, Star Wipers are sent in to clean up the mess when things go wrong. And in the far reaches of space, business is booming…

Play together with friends in up to 4-player online co-op, embarking on interstellar expeditions to mop up monstrous messes, tackle challenges, and collect resources to upgrade your cleaning equipment.
Wash away unsightly stains, deal with detritus, and try not to become the latest mess on a freshly washed wall. Survive threats from the deadly lifeforms behind the horror, donning your mop to conquer galactic messes in an out-of-this-world survival horror cleaning sim.”

As you might guess, there is a slapstick element to Cleaner Company, meaning the co-op survival can be helped with such hilarity as tipping over your mate’s claret colored mop bucket. I also assume that includes throwing stuff at the monsters. Knowing me, I’d be the old man shouting at people to hurry up and clean before I feed them to the monsters myself.
Right now, there is only the vague “2026” release window, so don’t expect a release date this week, but you can sign up for the upcoming playtests right now. As usual, you can head over to Steam and click on the “Request Access” button, where you can also wishlist Cleaner Company right now. You can also check it out on the Epic Games Store.
