Thinking about the gaming industry, a lot of classic titles are coming back to the forefront. We’re seeing things like God of War, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and other classics return to the public eye. However, there is one franchise that is primed for a return.

Capcom is in a very solid place in its mainstays right now. The Resident Evil franchise is better than ever, and Street Fighter 6 is holding its own as one of the greats in the competitive fighter genre. Because of this, I think it is time that Darkstalkers made a return.

With Capcom’s skill at creating their flagship franchises, it is high time that we see the cult classic, horror-esque fighter return. Morrigan, Felicia, and a few others have managed to stay active in various collaborations over the years, but this is the perfect time for a full new Darkstalkers game to return.

Whether it is a fighting game that brings back the classic roster of horror/gothic-inspired characters, or some other sort of game that fleshes out the world, Darkstalkers fans are ready for more. I am a fan of the Darkstalkers franchise, and having played the Capcom Fighting Collection recently, I can’t help but wonder if a new entry would be perfect for giving a little bit of variety to the fighting game scene.

Not only that, but Darkstalkers has been a cult classic for years, and hasn’t seen an entry on modern platforms since 2013. Aside from the Capcom Fighting Collection, the series has been dormant for a while. It’s time to bring it back and let Morrigan and the other Darkstalkers prowl again.

While many folks have suggested that a Darkstalkers return is unlikely, we’ve seen a lot of unlikely returns lately. Suikoden I & II HD Remaster brought the franchise back to modern platforms, Onimusha is returning with Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026, and a variety of other dormant series are making their way back to the forefront. Here’s hoping the Darkstalkers are on Capcom’s radar.
