In the late 90s, after pioneering part of what we now refer to as the Survival Horror genre, Capcom released Dino Crisis. Instead of Zombies, the Dino Crisis series pits players against a Jurassic Park-style threat. Now, after many years, you can play the first two games in the series on your PC.
That’s right, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 are available now on Steam. Both games have been adjusted to fit modern hardware and controllers, while also being remastered for crisper visuals. Here is what the press release says about the new release:

“[Thursday], Capcom is resurrecting Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 for the first time ever on Steam. These fan-favorite entries in the classic franchise that took survival horror to a much larger scale are now fully playable on modern PCs and ready to totally consume you, all of you!
Originally released in 1999, Dino Crisis bends spacetime to unleash prehistoric threats on the world of survival horror. The story follows special agent Regina on a covert operation that takes a shocking turn when she infiltrates a facility overrun with dinosaurs. Experience the thrills of overcoming ancient terrors while unraveling the mystery behind their panic-inducing return.

In the action-packed sequel, players travel back in time to the jungles of the Cretaceous Period. Dino Crisis 2 sees Regina return for even more intense dino-blasting battles as part of a mission to rescue survivors of a city displaced in time. Take on greater numbers of ferocious dinosaurs with a deeper arsenal of weapons as the arcade action shoots up to a whole new level.”
I’m glad to see these two fan-favorite games on PC. Prior to this, the only way to play them outside of original hardware was either the PS Plus catalog or an Emulator on PC. Hopefully, this means that we’ll see new Dino Crisis games in the future or possibly remakes in the vein of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4.
