Monday, US lawmakers are requesting the FTC to look closer at the EA acquisition, especially as those in the White House would profit from it. Tuesday, the future of Dragon Ball was addressed by Bandai Namco. Wednesday, Terraria got its first update since that woman in Titanic got interviewed about it, and it also got a couple of crossovers with great games. Thursday, there was no news because review embargoes were lifted, and we’re all kinds of busy. Go check out the reviews for Cult of The Lamb: Woolhaven, The Spirit Lift, Cairn, and my preview of Bladesong.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store, and it’s another odd one, Dope Games’ Definitely Not Fried Chicken. The press release sent out literally opens with “Jesse, Time to Cook!” In a game quite directly born of a Breaking Bad reference, you can expect a lot of that. As the management-crime game, Definitely Not Fried Chicken, has you running a “chicken shop” as a front for drugs. I know, shock, horror, gasp, faint into a puddle on the floor, it is oh so horrifying a concept if you’re puritanical and dim-witted.

One could argue that I’d also say the latter description might be used for the mobile offering this week, Faily Brakes 2. A mobile phone game in every respect, you control a car in an arcadey world as you speed into head-on traffic with no brakes. Your objective? Avoid taking damage while fighting a terrible driving system that will always result in you hitting several things. It is like the inverse of Burnout: Don’t crash into traffic. What is the one thing we know about Burnout? It is good, and the inverse of good is bad, so I think my case would stand for dismissing this one.
All this week, you can pick up Definitely Not Fried Chicken on the Epic Games Store for PC and Faily Brakes 2 on the Epic Games Store for mobile. Moving on to next week, when it is another dreaded double-bill. First up will be Botany Manor, which is actually interesting in its concept of researching and exploring botany from the perspective of a retired botanist. The other thing is a free-to-play mobile multiplayer FPS game that stole its entire art direction from Minecraft mods and texture packs, Pixel Gun 3D. Offering more specifically the “Poison Retro Set” DLC, currently on Steam for $24.99. Free is still too much.
