The Rogue Prince of Persia is (technically) the only Prince of Persia game I haven’t gotten to play. I’m still sore about The Lost Crown not getting a sequel, but now there’s at least a good bit of news before the Sands of Time remake releases. The Rogue Prince of Persia has finally reached the Switch family of consoles.

Following a successful PC, PlayStation, and Xbox release, you can now play The Rogue Prince of Persia on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It is currently only a digital release, but physical versions are planned. Here is what the press release says about The Rogue Prince of Persia on Switch and Switch 2:

“Today, Ubisoft and Evil Empire announced that The Rogue Prince of Persia™, the critically acclaimed 2D action platforming Rogue[-]lite, is out now on Nintendo Switch™ and Switch™ 2.  Following its successful release on Ubisoft+, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation®5, the game’s arrival on Nintendo platforms marks a new chapter in its multiplatform rollout.

Optimised for handheld and hybrid play, the Switch versions feature all content from the 1.0 release, including a variety of biomes, weapons, medallions, and a reimagined art direction. Players can enjoy fluid combat, dynamic parkour, and a rich narrative of redemption wherever they go. With over 100 weapons and medallions to unlock and master, each run offers new opportunities to adapt and evolve, forging a unique playstyle through exploration and discovery. Agility is key: [W]all-running, dodging traps, and chaining stylish combos are essential to survival.

Publishing partner U&I Entertainment will release physical Standard and Immortal Editions for Nintendo Switch™, Switch™ 2, and PlayStation®5 on 10th April 2026, for which pre-orders are now open. The Immortal Edition includes a premium SteelBook case with sleeve, a double-sided poster, and fine art cards forming part of the game world map.”

I am very excited to get my hands on The Rogue Prince of Persia, and the Switch is a perfect platform for it. Keep it in mind if you have a fan of Rogue-likes who needs a last-minute Christmas gift.
