There is something exceptionally boring about a lot of shooters, particularly the first-person shooters, nowadays. They are grey, they are dark, they are depressing, they’re boring, and the biggest crime of all, they almost all focus on multiplayer. Where are the almost seizure-inducing, colorful, high-speed, singleplayer-focused first-person shooters? January, apparently. According to the press release I got yesterday from publisher Kwalee and developer Finny Fintan Softworks, we’re heading back to the time of Y2K, translucent colorful plastic for electronics, and flip phones that didn’t put a crease in the middle of your screen with Don’t Stop, Girlypop!

Indeed, a man with long hair and a beard somewhere between Jesus and homeless isn’t exactly a “girlypop,” but I am excited nonetheless for Australian studio Funny Fintan Softworks’ Don’t Stop, Girlypop! all the same. The press release says: “Leading UK publisher Kwalee and Australian indie studio Funny Fintan Softworks are pleased to announce that the Y2K-inspired arena shooter Don’t Stop, Girlypop! is coming to PC via Steam on January 29, 2026.

To celebrate the announcement, Kwalee and Funny Fintan Softworks have released a brand new trailer. The trailer showcases the game’s fast-paced combat, vibrant arenas, and unique movement mechanics, plus customisation items, offering players a deeper look at what to expect when Don’t Stop, Girlypop! launches next January.” Of course, by next January, we’re talking about the one that’s only a couple of weeks away.

However, if you can’t wait until the 29th of January, 2026, “Players eager to jump in right away can download the free demo on Steam. The demo includes six early-game stages, three unique weapons, and the chance to team up with a very special digital dino companion as they master the game’s energetic movement and combat systems. The demo currently holds a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam based on over 700 player reviews.

I won’t go blow-for-blow, but the general idea of Don’t Stop, Girlypop! is that of 90s/2000s arena shooters: High speed, constant movement, with outlandish maps, enemies, and guns (with alt-fires), and lots of combo kills increasing a score that some of us will struggle to keep high. Nonetheless, since we first saw Don’t Stop, Girlypop!, back when it was called “Incolatus,” I had reservations but still wanted to see more ahead of release. Isolated away from the PC Gaming Show, anything can look better by comparison.

Don’t Stop, Girlypop! releases on the 29th of January, 2026, for Steam alone. No word yet of console ports, other storefronts, or anything of the ilk. I’m excited to see more of Don’t Stop, Girlypop! and to eventually get hands-on, even if I’ll be very bad at the whole concept of fast-paced, non-stop action.
