Monday, I wanted to climb into a bin and shoot myself over feeling ill, Paralives got delayed, and a Death Stranding TV show is in development. Tuesday, semi-turn-based RPG Stories of Somnia got announced, the WoW 21st anniversary event started, and there was nearly an earthquake and a sonic boom in Scotland as I watched one of the greatest games of football ever. Wednesday, Nintendo is doing festive deals, for once, News Tower is in 1.0, and F1 26 isn’t happening. Thursday, Tales of Berseria Remastered was announced, and I still have to play Vesperia, which is sitting next to me.

Moving on to the Epic Games Store, and I was about to have a long shouting match with the new captcha thing. Multiple times, it tried telling me error code after error code, and I was ready to headbutt it in frustration. We’ll start with the surprise that isn’t part of the mobile offerings, Godzilla Voxel Wars. Developed by solo developer Nukenin, otherwise known as Waken and with 10 years working for Nintendo, it is effectively a small-scale (8×8 grids) voxel puzzle version of Advance Wars, where you play as the Toho monsters. Yes, Mothra and co too.

An odd one to offer this week, as Godzilla Voxel Wars was released 2 years ago in October of 2023, and Nukenin’s latest project, Jelly Troops, was released nine weeks ago on September 17th. Both are adorable, by the way. I guess the good thing about Godzilla Voxel Wars is that it might tide me over until the release of that Ape thing I was on about the other day. It is simple, it is cute in that voxel way, and I’m not going to complain too much about an Advance Wars-esque idea with Godzilla and puzzles.

Onto the offering we knew, and that one that is available on the Epic Games Store for mobile globally on Android and in the US for iOS platforms like iPhone and iPad. A little ahead of Balatro, showing some of the cripling gambling addiction of Rogue-like poker, Zoeti is a Poker-battling adventure game where you play as one of three anime versions of the warrior, the rogue, and the spell caster. All in a sort of anime style where characters are purposefully made “cute” but also have large breasts, like Cindy from Final Fantasy XV.

Developed by Chinese studio Dusklight Co and released in 2023 as well, the studio’s latest game is a weird bullet hell action Rogue-like rhythm game called Rhythm Witch: Beat Death. Though I think somehow this is meant to promote the publisher’s latest release with Studio Hybrid, GIGASWORD, which doesn’t look bad if I say so myself, but is also far more recent. An odd one to say the least, Zoeti and this week as a whole, feels like a speedbump to get us to the daily offerings during what is our break next month. Expect to see a lot of this.

All this week, you can pick up Godzilla Voxel Wars and Zoeti for the Epic Games Store for PC, with the latter also available on mobile devices. Onto next week, and it is another that is proposing a simple week but will later be revealed to be a two or three-game week, Universe for Sale. I’ll hold all my comments about bankers and politicians because, quite frankly, Tim Curry already covered everyone’s thoughts on that one.
