Listen, I’m not a fan of “the great outdoors,” I’m much more of a fan of “the yummy cake.” However, I do love exploring, and generally the nature of video games simply because I can do that and eat cake. All without the threat of being mauled to death by a bear. It seems something new from astragon Entertainment, publishers of Police Simulator, Firefighting Simulator, and of course, Construction Simulator, is set to take on the great outdoors from the comfort of your own hibernation station. Announced back in August, To-Go Games’ first game, Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator, is doing more to educate than the government.

The new trailer showcasing Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator focuses on Faremont National Park, and for those of you who are unsure, it is fictional. The press release notes, “Since the first announcement of Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator in August 2025[,] many things have already been said about the daily work life of a US ranger. But what would a ranger be without the nature he or she protects? This is why Publisher astragon Entertainment and developer To-Go Games – part of GRIP Studios put their focus today on the secret protagonist of their new simulation game: Faremont National Park itself!”

You might be thinking, “ok, but what’s the gameplay?” As noted in the press release highlighting parts of the trailer, you are a park ranger in a national park that isn’t just a photo studio for Instagram, but there is flora and fauna everywhere. Some of which you need to catalog, some you need to keep an eye on, and some you’ll end up learning a bit about.

The press release continues: “Diverse trails, beautiful valley views, spectacular giant sequoias, and rugged mountains rising from the dense forests will delight any nature fan – be it visitor or employee. There is something to discover around every bend, from natural rock formations and steep waterfalls to abandoned buildings from long[-]gone eras.

Rare animals and plants contribute to the park’s unique charm: [P]layful raccoons, majestic eagles, and even predators like bears and wolves make every visit special and exciting. And when a deer grazes peacefully on the riverbank in the stillness of dawn… Faremont National Park truly becomes the most beautiful (work)place in the world.

I know I’ve had Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator on my wishlist for a few weeks now, but what about a timeline for release? Well, there is no date or window given just yet, though the most recent Steam post notes, “launching soon in Early Access on PC.”

The press release, however, notes: “Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator will launch in Early Access via Steam and the Epic Games Store with an already broad set of features, offering hours of engaging gameplay from day one. Throughout the Early Access phase, players can look forward to regular free content updates, with new tools, activities, and wildlife enhancements planned. The player community will play a crucial role in shaping the game’s further development through feedback and ideas.” For what all of that is worth without a release window.

I’m excited to see more from Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator and eventually play it when it releases into early access, at some point. As noted above, Ranger’s Path National Park Simulator will be on Steam and the Epic Games Store, so I’m sure you can wishlist on both platforms, though no word as I can see on a console port at the time of writing. With early access being a focus for now, I think that’s probably for the best.
