This week, came an awesome announcement for fans of rogue-likes and the Warhammer universe. Warhammer Survivors is an upcoming title being developed by Auroch Digital, the studio behind the retro-style shooter Warhammer 40K: Boltgun. This project is also a collaboration between Auroch Digital and poncle, the developers behind the critically acclaimed Vampire Survivors.

Warhammer Survivors looks to built directly within the Survivors game engine. From the brief glimpse of gameplay, it’s clear this title will retain the crazy bullet hell combat and features content from both the sci-fi setting of Warhammer 40k as well as the epic dark fantasy of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The basic description is as follows. “Players will lead a roster of iconic characters and endure against the swarms of relentless enemies. Weapons and power-ups can be combined into devastating new forms to create screen-clearing storms of bullets, blades and magic.”
In terms of playable characters, you can expect Malum Caedo, the main character from Boltgun, as well as Brother Luca. Meanwhile, the Age of Sigmar characters include Neave Blacktalon, Gotrek Gurnisson, and Shayrnn Azurwrath. Apparently there will be even more heroes to unlock in the final version, but these have not been revealed.
Enemies will include iconic races from across both universes, including the monstrous aliens known as the Tyranids and the rat-like Skaven. The game also boasts multiple game modes and stages for the full release alongside hundreds of weapons, power-up items, and passive effects to ensure each run will feel unique.
Given the rich lore and depth of Games Workshop’s IP, I imagine this game will be packed with personality and style that will appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers alike. As of now Warhammer Survivors is set to release on PC through Steam sometime in 2026, and you can wishlist the title right now through the store.
