The Steam Next Fest last month showcased a rather interesting game. Diggergun, by developer Kabloop, focused on the cost of living and the environment. Now, this interesting (if bleak) digging game has a full release date and a new trailer.

Diggergun will be released on Thursday, November 6th, 2025. The Steam Next Fest Demo is also still available, so you can check it out while you wait for the game to release. Here is what the press release says about Diggergun:

“Low wage. Exhaustion. Expensive fish and chips. Welcome to the United Kingdom.

DIGGERGUN is an oppressive life-sim platformer about workers, minimum pay, and the environment. You’re trapped on a blustery island, forced to work at Cornwall Mining Corp, where it’s shadier than the game’s monochrome palette.

To escape, you need to earn £3000 from digging for precious lithium. To survive, you need to manage your time, energy and money during the rigid day-and-night cycle. Will you make ends meet while digging for freedom or find another way out and bring down the whole bloomin’ system?

Solo developer Kabloop commented on the release, stating: “The positive reaction to DIGGERGUN’s Steam Next Fest: October 2025 Edition demo has been heartwarming. I’m exceptionally excited to finally release the full game to players.

I hope that DIGGERGUN’s thematic focus on employment and the cost-of-living will spark a discussion about how countries can do more to better protect citizens and help companies understand the impact of their decisions on their workers.”

While I am not a fan of the monochromatic black and white style due to my light sensitivity issues, Diggergun has me pretty intrigued. The gameplay loop of working and then having to deal with the risk and reward of various work hazards is reminiscent of other games like Steamworld Dig, but with a bit of a more hardcore touch. I’m curious to see how Diggergun turns out on its full release.
