After spending time playing Cloverpit, Balatro, and an array of simulation (dad) games, the running joke in the office is that I am a “dad with no kids, with a gambling problem.” So, talking about Indie Dev Friedmann’s upcoming fantasy Rogue-like isn’t helping that accusation.

Slots & Daggers, a “mini slot machine fantasy adventure Rogue-like,” has been revealed for release on October 24th, 2025. Publisher Future Friends Games has revealed the release date, along with a new trailer, via a new press release. Here is what the press release says about the game’s contents:

“From the creator of SUMMERHOUSE comes SLOTS & DAGGERS – a compact retro-fantasy Rogue[-]like where battles play out on a slot machine. Arm yourself to the teeth and set out on an adventure across strange and dangerous lands, where every spin could be your last!

In combat, your actions are decided by a spin of the wheel: attacks, potions[,] and spells are represented by symbols on the slot machine. You’ll need a keen eye, quick reflexes[,] and good old[-]fashioned luck to triumph over an eccentric cast of foes: Gunslingers of the Red Desert, Knights of Kul, Hammer Goblins[,] and a guy named Ike. Victory will earn you powerful modifiers – extra wheels, new weapons, spells[,] and more.

Fine-tune your loadout, hone your strategy, and turn the odds in your favour until victory is secured!

There is an updated demo that you can play now, until October 20th, via the Steam Next Fest. Whether the demo will remain after that remains to be seen; some do, some don’t. Hopefully, the demo remains, that way people can try it out before they buy it, even after the game releases. Regardless, I’m excited to see how Slots & Daggers plays. I’m enjoying the gambling vibes.
