Monday, Shadows of Doubt has finally added the best thing, rat detective! Tuesday, vertical city-building Stario: Haven Tower got its early access release date revealed, and it is fairly soon. Wednesday, Tesla-sexuals (not the ones with “salutes”) got horny because the puzzle game The House of Tesla finally released on Steam. Thursday, Sony finally pulled its finger out and showed off more of Wolverine after a few years, and some other stuff. Just because I can and I have the space here, last Friday I had a long moan about the 14 leagues added to FM26 for the Women’s game. Again, not a moan like the “salute” people.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store, and it is a double bill that feels like filling a gap between major sales or big events. We’ll start with the repeat that feels about as exciting as listening to that one friend talk about their knife collection, Eastern Exorcist. Released back in 2023, this 2D side-scrolling action RPG takes a lot of inspiration from Chinese folklore and is presented in the style of Chinese opera. Which is all to say, a lot of people (myself included) would be quick to call it a Souls-like.
While the first offering is something that I have little interest in because it is a repeat and I’m writing this at 4 AM, the second offering plainly doesn’t make me excited. Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy is a very 90s/2000s Cartoon Network-inspired (hints of South American cartoon art) point & click adventure that does well for those hooked on nostalgia (I hear that’s the drug that gives you depression), but it is difficult to get me excited about nostalgia. Once again, released in 2023, there certainly is praise for this one, but you won’t hear it from me.
All this week, you can pick up both Eastern Exorcist and Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy on the Epic Games Store for PC, with Eastern Exorcist also available on the mobile store for Android worldwide and iOS in the EU. Onto next week, and I think I might just throw myself into the river because that’s more productive than talking about free-to-play tripe and an open world PVE, online-focused, survival crafting game that’s currently in early access. Yes, next week it is crap to claim for Firestone and an online-focused (though singleplayer) survival crafter, Nightingale.
