I love a good detective game. However, I love a supernatural-themed detective game even more. Now, Spooky Doorway and Raw Fury have revealed a release date for an upcoming mystery that seems to be interesting indeed.

The Séance of Blake Manor is a detective mystery involving a mysterious disappearance. As a detective, you’ll need to put your wits together to find Evelyn Deane, who has gone missing in the titular manor. The Séance of Blake Manor will be released on October 27th on Steam. Here is what the press release says about the mystery that will unfold:

“Set in Victorian Ireland, The Séance of Blake Manor places players in the gumshoes of Detective Declan Ward as they search for the vanished Evelyn Deane at Blake Manor. To further their investigation, they will need to interview and interrogate an eclectic group of suspects to learn more about their motivations and investigate them to unearth hidden clues from their appearance. Recording details, making connections[,] and cross-referencing evidence will be key to uncovering the truth about Blake Manor and the whereabouts of Evelyn Deane.

Set in Ireland in the late 19th century, Blake Manor is filled with numerous intriguing characters, each with their own secrets and tales to tell. The game explores religion, class divide[,] and the supernatural, with a huge part of the game’s influence being the Victorian era and ancient mythology of the Celts.

Players must use immersive detective mechanics to investigate and make the logical leaps necessary to uncover clues and contradictions to solve the central mystery of the story.

Inspired by the artwork of Mike Mignola (Hellboy, The Amazing Screw-On Head), Edward Risso (100 Bullets, Batman: Broken City)[,] and Tim Sale (Batman: The Long Halloween), The Séance of Blake Manor is presented in a graphic comic style, where every frame looks like it has been hand drawn and items are examined through comic panels.

The period[-]appropriate soundtrack is dynamically driven by the location and gameplay, adapting to the situation as the story progresses. The soundtrack is [bolstered] by branching dialogues and the impactful choices of characters that will ultimately change how players solve the mysteries of Blake Manor.

I’m intrigued by the mysteries that are likely to unfold in Blake Manor. The trailer alone caught my attention, and knowing that the 27th of October isn’t that far away, it’ll be the perfect accompaniment to Halloween. This is definitely something to keep an eye on.
