Team Cherry Confirm Silksong’s release time and price

I know some people who will be stroking themselves at midnight on Thursday, but it won’t be all the fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong. It won’t be released at Midnight on Thursday, the dev confirms. As confirmed by Team Cherry itself on Sunday, Hollow Knight: Silksong will be releasing at a reasonable time and for a reasonable price too.

Revealed on BlueSky by Team Cherry, ahead of the Thursday release, the price for the highly anticipated release is going to be $19.99, €19.99, ¥2300, and presumably about £17.99-19.99 if I’ve got my exchange rates correct. The team also revealed that Silksong will be releasing at 7 AM for the US West Coast, 10 AM for the East Coast, 3 PM in the UK, 4 PM for central Europe, and, to stick with the inclusion of Yen, 11 PM JST. So if I’ve got my weird Australian time zones correct, 00:30 for the studio’s time zone, someone gets to play with themselves at midnight-ish.

It might seem surprising to find that Silksong is just $20, but realistically, how many of you are going to pick it up now? It might seem like madness, but at that price, more people are likely to buy it, so the offset of pricing it higher isn’t really going to be affected when release rolls around.

“Oh, think of the profit margins!!” If you’re more concerned about that than a game being fun and priced well so that the most people buy it, I’m sure EA has a vacancy for you to fill. I know I’m excited for Silksong, and going by the way most games have lept out of the way of its release, I think most are excited for this Thursday too.
