Sometimes, short and sweet experiences are all you need to get a boost of serotonin. Sure, some long games are great, but sometimes a nice, chill experience is more than enough. Catto’s Post Office is a calm, relaxing experience. I like cats, and since I can’t hug every cat, a cute game like Catto’s Post Office will have to do.

In Catto’s Post Office, you are Catto, the titular cat. Catto is a mailcat and is a valuable member of their community. It also happens to be Catto’s birthday, so as you go about Catto’s day, you get to see how they interact with the people around them.

The gameplay is simple: you can meow, bat at things to either kick them or knock them off shelves (basically an interact button), and you can walk around. It’s a simple control scheme for a simple experience.

The appeal here is the visuals and the story. The environment is cute and colorful, and the characters all have fun personalities. The story is fairly easy to predict from the start, but it is the journey of interacting with Catto’s friends and family that matters here.

Some might find Catto’s Post Office a bit short, since I finished the game in under an hour. However, there are secrets, small side “quests”, and collectibles to find. So, I could see at least 2 playthroughs worth of time that could extend the gameplay to about two hours or so.

Personally, I didn’t mind the short runtime. Catto’s Post Office didn’t overstay its welcome, and if a game’s only sin is that I want more, I think the developers did a good job. Would I have liked a few hours of Mailcat gameplay, interacting with the townsfolk, and running errands? Sure. Was it necessary? Not really.

Overall, if you’re looking for a cute, fun game that will give you a quick dose of the good stuff, Catto’s Post Office is a good time. If you’re looking for something lengthier, or you just don’t like cats, I’d suggest you look elsewhere.
