It’s time for another major content update to World of Warcraft: The War Within. Patch 11.2, officially titled “Ghosts of K’aresh,” should be live as of this article’s publication, assuming Blizzard didn’t experience any significant last-minute delays. I’ve prepared a rundown of the major aspects of this patch, but there are some things I won’t mention here. My main omission will be several metric tons of class changes, mostly since the minutiae of nerfs and buffs are way over my head at the best of times. Nevertheless, I’ll make sure to include links to further reading where necessary.
Patch 11.2 will see players travel to the titular world of K’aresh, home to the mysterious Ethereals. K’aresh was once a vibrant planet, but the malevolent influence of the Void has rendered it mostly barren. You might remember the dungeon called Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, from the Shadowlands expansion. However, Tazavesh will now serve as the central player hub on K’aresh. While in Tazavesh, you’ll find vendors and many other points of interest, including portals to all four daily active Bountiful Delves. Tazavesh is also home to The War Within’s seventh major faction, known as the K’aresh Trust.
During the process of completing the K’aresh campaign quests, you’ll receive a new artifact cloak called a Reshii Wrap. You can upgrade this cloak by purchasing new Fibers from a specific vendor or crafting Fibers via the Khaz Algar Tailoring profession. Adding Fibers to your Reshii Wrap provides you with bonuses to secondary stats, not unlike slotting gems into regular equipment. Once at least one of your characters has their Reshii Wrap, all your alts will be able to skip ahead in the K’aresh campaign to the point where they get theirs. Thus, you’ll only have to complete the prior campaign quests once.
Once you have your Reshii Wrap, you’ll be able to harness Ethereal energies within it and try your hand at a new way of exploring K’aresh called “Phase Diving.” You go Phase Diving by using your Reshii Wrap to “step into Untethered Space.” Blizzard hasn’t elaborated much on what any of that entails, so we’ll just have to wait until WoW’s servers come back online and see for ourselves. A major content source on K’aresh is called Ecological Succession, where you’ll help Ve’nari (who has also returned from Shadowlands) fill so-called “eco-domes” to restore K’aresh to the vibrant planet it once was.
Patch 11.2 introduces a new raid, dungeon, and Delve. The new raid is called Manaforge Omega. The final boss of the Manaforge Omega raid is the Void Lord, Dimensius, the All-Devouring. If Dimensius isn’t stopped now, he’ll grow strong enough to “feast on reality itself,” which is probably bad news for Azeroth. Unique mounts will be given to those who complete the Manaforge Omega raid on Heroic and/or Mythic difficulty. The Manaforge Omega raid will have a “story mode” difficulty, as all The War Within’s raids do, but this won’t be available until the week of August 19th, 2025.
Returning to Delves for a moment, there will be a new Nemesis you’ll encounter in Delves once The War Within Season 3 begins on August 12th, 2025. The previous Nemesis, the particularly obnoxious Goblin known as The Underpin, has been replaced by Nexus Princess Ky’veza. That name might ring a bell: Ky’veza is the final boss of the dungeon version of Tazavesh from Shadowlands. Aside from that mountain of class changes I mentioned earlier, the remaining major aspect of Patch 11.2 is a huge overhaul of character banks. Character-specific banks now all use the same configurations as your account-wide Warband bank.
Character banks are now split into a maximum of six tabs, each of which contains 98 storage slots. Purchasing each bank tab costs increasing amounts of gold: 1 gold for the first tab, then 100 gold, then 500, then 1000, then 2500, then 5000 for the final tab. To quote Blizzard directly, “For characters below level 80, the number of tabs available will be based on how many bag slots (including reagent bank and void storage) were available to the character before the update.” Relatedly, reagent banks and void storage have both been removed as part of this update.
The reagent bank was likely removed because it would have been redundant, since you can set any of your new bank tabs to serve the same purpose as the reagent bank. Blizzard stated that “[a] ll items previously contained in character banks, reagent banks, and void storage are automatically moved to available tabs in the new bank upon login after the patch.” Blizzard also asks players to “note that […] it is possible for the conversion to not initiate when you first log into a character. Additionally, until the conversion is completed, access to your bank will be disabled.”
Considering all the issues Blizzard had with implementing Warband banks and actually making them available to players when they were first introduced, I’m fairly concerned about the process of adding these new bank updates. I hope for Blizzard’s sake that everything goes smoothly; WoW’s player base doesn’t exactly keep its collective mouth shut when new content goes awry. If you want more details about everything coming in Patch 11.2 that I may not have discussed here, including that novel’s worth of class and specialization changes, you can read plenty more about all that stuff in Blizzard’s official patch notes.
