Like a man hiding from a French “visually challenged fiend,” I seem to find FTL-likes (or similar) whether I want to or not. The latest (very latest) addition to the Rogue-like strategy genre with a penchant (for lack of a French term) towards an active-pause decision-making session is that of French studio 1LastGame’s Reclaim The Sea.
A bit simple, like my beloved 2020 space station builder, Meeple Station, Reclaim The Sea puts you in charge of a rather simple-looking people. Or in this case, pirates, as Reclaim The Sea is described as “a pirate fantasy world.” Here is what the press release from 1LastGame says about Reclaim The Sea‘s release on Steam:
“Independent developer 1LastGame is thrilled to announce that Reclaim the Sea, a new adventure and naval strategy [Rogue-like] game, is now available on Steam for PC at a 20% discounted launch price of $9.59 USD/€9.43 [and £7.99]. In Reclaim the Sea, players take command of a rebel crew navigating a fantasy world completely submerged by rising oceans. Through a mix of tactical combat and narrative events, they must chart a course toward the final zone to overthrow the established order.”
Very FTL, if it were set on the big blue wet thing. Out now on Steam as of yesterday, Reclaim The Sea looks interesting enough. Boasting 10 zones to explore, ship and crew upgrades, and plenty of decisions to make, its simple and “MyFirstGame” look could be deceiving for how powerful the cannons might be on your pirate ship.
