Since I saw Sultan’s Game on my Steam discovery queue a while ago, I found myself intrigued by the concept. A “card-based narrative-driven RPG” based on the One Thousand and One Nights tale, just hits a good spot. Now, after watching the development for a while, it seems that the game has hit huge success!
Sultan’s Game has sold over 1 million copies. To celebrate, Double Cross Studio has announced a plethora of new content it will be adding in the next six months. Here is what the press release says about the announcement:
“Since launching in March, Sultan’s Game has received an outpouring of incredible feedback, suggestions, and support from fans, helping to shape the RPG into what it is today. After selling more than 600,000 copies in its first month, the title has now sold 1,000,000 copies. To celebrate the milestone, Double Cross Studio and 2P Games commemorated a special illustration and teased what’s in store for the next six months of Sultan’s Game.
In the months ahead, additional dialogue, enhanced gallery features, expanded story content, and brand-new endings will bring new layers to Double Cross Studio’s vivid world.
The Sultan’s courtiers will encounter a brand-new crowdfunded character shaped by the community this August. Final dialogue and multi-language localization are currently underway!
The Gallery will open its doors to new experiences, including card archives, ending collections, and new collectible content. Previously restricted sections of the game will open up to modding support through Steam Workshop, alongside compatibility improvements offering mod creators more freedom when creating custom experiences.
After noticing the great community interest in character backstories, the development team is now hard at work on fleshing out character storylines to expand the narrative depth of Sultan’s Game. Key figures such as the Court Physician, vagrant leader Raed, and the Fate Shop companions will have their stories told in future updates!
The final two ideological achievements in the Nursery, along with their endings and epilogues, are in development to round out the complete narrative arc of Sultan’s Game.
Several endings will expand with epilogues to help emphasize the impact of player choices on character outcomes. These updates will roll out gradually alongside ongoing polish and bug fixes.
In addition to free content updates, the developers will continue to gather feedback and suggestions from the community, as has been crucial in making the game better. In the coming months, the development team will continue to refine the experience and support long-term development with regular bug fixes, optimizations, and quality-of-life improvements.”
The team at Double Cross Studio also commented, stating: “We are thrilled to celebrate this amazing milestone and are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support that made it possible. There’s much more to come in the future, and we always welcome feedback to help make Sultan’s Game even more enjoyable for our passionate community.”
You can purchase Sultan’s Game now on Steam. In fact, there is a 15% discount from now until July 24th. I’m curious to see how Sultan’s Game evolves from here, and I may end up taking advantage of that discount so I can set up a review too. Keep an eye out for that.
