My fellow denizens of Azeroth, I hope you feel the need for greed. The Greedy Emissary event has returned to World of Warcraft and will hang around through almost all of July. This event begins at 8 AM PDT on July 1st, 2025 (or your regional equivalent of that time), and ends at that same hour on July 29th. During this event, portals will spawn once an hour on the hour in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal, and Undermine. These portals will spew forth Treasure Goblins from the Diablo universe. I’m sure you know what that means: slay them and claim their loot!

You don’t necessarily have to wait around for these portals to spawn. Killing any rare enemy in Undermine has a chance to spawn one of these portals, as does defeating certain bosses in the Liberation of Undermine raid. I should note that Blizzard’s “blue post” about this event didn’t specify if the chances of spawning portals in the Liberation of Undermine raid are affected by the difficulty setting you have active when you defeat said bosses. Even if the odds are affected by difficulty, I have a feeling the differences won’t be particularly huge. I’m just speculating there, however.

At the quarter-hour every hour, there’s a chance that a Portal Storm will occur in any of those four cities, which will spawn an additional five Treasure Goblin portals. Your map will tell you where portals are when they spawn, as well as how many portals are active when Portal Storms occur. By looting slain Treasure Goblins and completing activities during the Greedy Emissary event, players can earn an event-exclusive currency called Hellstone Shards. An NPC called Hellhunter Baranar, located in The Forgegrounds in Dornogal, accepts this currency in exchange for goodies like recolors of upscaled Tier 2 class armor sets.

By continuing to participate in the Greedy Emissary event, you can get Hellcaller Chests each week across your entire Warband. For those who might not know, your Warband consists of all characters on your account, regardless of their faction or server. The first ten of these chests you get each week are guaranteed to contain Hellstone Shards. Hellcaller Chests can also contain Valorstones that can be spent to upgrade your characters’ gear, as well as what Blizzard rather vaguely refers to as “otherworldly items.” Now we can move on to what I teased in this article’s title.

The Collector’s Bounty buff will be active for all players during the same period as the Greedy Emissary event is in effect. When I use the term “legacy dungeons and raids,” all you need to know is that I’m referring to all dungeons and raids from before the Dragonflight expansion. The Collector’s Bounty buff doubles the chances you’ll get Transmog loot drops and mounts in all legacy dungeons and raids. Several legendary items from WoW’s history have also had their drop rates increased by anywhere from 10 to 25 times.

The specific items in question are as follows: Eye of Sulfuras and Bindings of the Windseeker, both from Molten Core; Warglaives of Azzinoth from Black Temple; Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury from Sunwell Plateau; and Golden Hearthstone Card from The Nighthold. Respectively, these raids are from “Vanilla” World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade, and Legion. It should be noted that all Timewalking content, as well as pets and toys, are excluded from the Collector’s Bounty buff. Also, keep in mind that if you’re farming for any specific transmog appearances, you’re no longer required to loot them as a class that can use those appearances.

In other words, if you want to loot a set of Paladin transmog appearances but you’re most comfortable running legacy dungeons and raids as a Mage, you can still get those Paladin appearances. Even though there are certain transmog appearances for the Warglaives of Azzinoth that are unique to Demon Hunters, you don’t have to loot the Warglaives of Azzinoth as a Demon Hunter to unlock these. You can get the appearances by looting the Warglaives of Azzinoth as a Warrior, Rogue, Monk, or Death Knight as well. You can get both achievements for looting the Warglaives this way, too.

The Collector’s Bounty buff will be active by default. However, it can be toggled off and back on at any time by speaking to any innkeeper in either faction’s capital cities and Dalaran. Blizzard didn’t specify whether they’re referring to Northrend Dalaran, Broken Isles Dalaran, or both. Given the nature of this event, though, I would imagine this applies to both versions of the city. I’m not really sure why anyone would want to turn this buff’s effects off, but I’m not one to judge. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I see an Ashes of Al’ar drop with my name on it!
