We’re deep in Summer Game Fest, and all this week, you have seen showcase coverage from us. Now we have one that folks may not have known about. This showcase covers games that are coming from Southeast Asian developers who are trying to reach the world stage. Let’s dive in and see what new games are coming!

We start the show with Tanuki: Pon’s Summer. This is a life sim where you play a Tanuki delivering mail, stuntin’ on his bike, and doing all sorts of things to restore the Tanuki Shrine. You can wishlist it now on Steam, but there isn’t much else to go on.

Moving along, we have Demonschool, which Keiran and I have both been keeping our eyes on. Inspired by the Persona series, this RPG has students trying to survive a demonic incursion. We still don’t have a launch date, but we do know that Demonschool is coming to all major platforms this summer. This trailer also showcased fishing for the first time.

The next trailer was for Team Suneat’s Dragon is Dead, which is available now. I’m working on a review for it for the near future, so keep an eye on that.

Next was an interesting little idea called Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road. It looks like a Bullet Heaven crossed with a Tower-defense game, and I’m actually weirdly interested. You can wishlist it now on PC.

Coral Island’s next update brings multiplayer and romance changes and adjustments. The Multiplayer & Romance update lets you farm with up to 3 other people. You can even marry and have kids with another player if a romanceable islander just doesn’t do it for you. They’ve also added costumes for a Halloween event, as well as added new hangout events for romanceable characters. The Multiplayer & Romance Update will be available in Summer 2025.

Toge Productions immediately grabbed my attention with Coffee Talk Tokyo. I know we’ve seen this before, but I’m still very excited for it. A demo is available now on Steam, and will be coming soon to PlayStation and Xbox.

Moving on, Fallen Tear: The Ascension showed off a new trailer. I am immediately interested in this Metroidvania, as billed as having “a living map” and fluid gameplay. They showed a glimpse of the map too, and it is huge. You can wishlist it now on Steam, but it won’t be released until Q1 2026.

A cute point-and-click spot-the-cat game was next. Cats Around Us: Black Cat carries on Noobzilla’s popular cat-focused franchise with new puzzles and lots of cats. No information was given on release dates.

Another artsy game was next called Art is Rifle. This shooter has you shooting colorful balls that paint the environment. Let’s just hope they have a colorblind option. Art is Rifle is available now with 9 new visual styles.

A new, interesting creature collector called Montabi came next. This deck-building creature collector has you fighting with your trainer and their Montabi, befriending new Montabi along the way. You can play a demo now on Steam, but there isn’t a release date available.

I Need Space is a moody, space-exploration game that you can wishlist now on Steam. You explore various planets with your cute space-cat-thing in tow. There seems to be a lot of interesting characters, and a cute visual aesthetic. There isn’t a release date yet, though.

Did you like Unpacking? Urban Jungle seems to scratch a similar sort of itch. Settle into your new home and touch things up with greenery and decorations. Urban Jungle is out now, and I am going straight to Steam to wishlist it.

Let’s Build a Dungeon: Game Dev Simulator lets you build your own MMORPG. It also tasks you with keeping your players happy, managing your studio, and more. You can wishlist it now on PC and Xbox, but we don’t have a release date yet.

A murder mystery with supernatural undertones is next with Death & Faeology. This “dark academia murder mystery visual novel” has you investigating a series of murders in the 1920s where the murderer may not be human at all. You can wishlist Death & Faeology now and play a demo on Steam.

Glyphica: Typing Survival is a Typing trainer with a Bullet Hell twist. It is available now in Early Access, and if you’re into typing trainers, this might be a solid one for you.

Mirth Island puts you in the role of a duck named Dodo. You will have to play a variety of rhythm-based challenges in order to recruit people to help the duck restore the island’s theater. You can wishlist Mirth Island on Steam.

Next is Table Flip Simulator, a game that gives you the inherent anxiety and stress of a Starbucks Barista or other public-service job. Flip all the tables you want when Table Flip Simulator releases, but for now, you’ll have to settle for wishlisting it on Steam.

High Times is a musical Visual Novel/Dating Sim where you run the local donut shop and have to satisfy the needs of a variety of guests. You can wishlist High Times on Steam now.

Polychroma Games, a studio from the Philippines, gave an update on Until Then. Their gorgeous narrative game with hand-crafted pixel art is coming to Nintendo Switch. Until Then will be released on June 26th, 2025 for Nintendo Switch systems. Polychroma Games also teased that something else is coming soon.

Moving on, Shepherd’s Plan is a point-and-click adventure that will lead you to try and destroy a company for a big payday. Shepherd’s Plan is coming soon on Steam, not much else was given in terms of launch platforms or dates.

Next was GigaBash, showcasing a new drill-tastic DLC containing a new character. The Mechajuras DLC is free now on all platforms. It is nice to see games continuing to get support even after launch.

The next segment was for Compensation Not Guaranteed. This is an interesting (weird) looking game that seems to have the vibes of Papers, Please mixed with a city-management type of thing. You can wishlist it now and check out a demo on Steam.

Never Ending Beyond caught my eye next, with the creative goal of not only rescuing animals and building a garden but having the freedom to decorate it yourself. I have a few misgivings about it, but so far it looks interesting. The combat sections and Rogue-like elements help flesh it out a bit, I think. You can wishlist Never Ending Beyond now, and it is coming to Early Access in July.

Zhen: Shattered Legacy is an action game currently in development. We got a short gameplay trailer, but not much else in the way of details.

Kill the Music was next, a rhythm action Rogue-lite in the vein of Crypt of the Necrodancer, but with a unique visual style. Attack to the beat, dodge to the beat, and enemies move to the beat, etc. Kill the Music is releasing soon, and there is an updated demo now on Steam.

Looking for more café management? Not Monday Café is the perfect idle/casual vibe. While you are working, you can have your café going in the background, then when you want to focus on it, you can. Grow crops, cook and serve dishes, and make coffee, Not Monday Café lets you serve cute animals all the good stuff. Not Monday Café is available on June 23rd on Steam.

Now drifting towards the spooky side of things, Am I Nima uses exploration, dialogue, and a unique keyword-connection feature to build a narrative about memory. You can play a demo for it now on Steam, and I think it will likely be stuck in people’s heads for a while.

Next is a game our managing editor, Keiran, showed me a little while ago. Sedap: A Culinary Adventure combines co-op cooking gameplay with combat and a re-imagining of Asian cuisine and culture. Sedap is coming to consoles in Q4 2025, but you can play it now on PC!

Seen previously at the main Summer Game Fest showcase, we have Acts of Blood next. This beat-em-up from Eksil Team looks brutal and bloody. We don’t have much more detail yet other than the trailer shown here.

Next up is Whisper Mountain Outbreak, a Survival Horror Co-op game with Escape Room elements. Whisper Mountain Outbreak will be coming to Early Access on August 11th, but you can try the demo now.

Another weird one was next. Identifile is a Cursor-based Rogue-like Bullet Hell that takes place on a desktop PC. It lets you enhance your cursor, take on enemies (presumably bad files), and so on. It is a unique idea, and I’m into it. You can check out a demo now for Identifile.

Mala Petaka was the next announcement. It seems like a Doom-like game with a cuter twist. Imagine Doom, but if it had a Mega-Man coat of paint instead of demons. Or Fashion Police Squad with robots instead of a fashionable gay man. You can wishlist it now on Steam.

Building Relationships was next, a game about a house on a date. You heard that right, your house is in a dating sim now. You play as a house, exploring various environments and trying to find love. You can pursue Millie the Windmill, Tenet the Tent, and more. There’s no release date yet, but you can play the demo now.

Operatives: Revolve is a gritty, mechanical deckbuilder that puts you against everything from humans to tanks. The trailer was a bit short on details, but you can check it out on Steam now.

For something a little cuter, we have Nightmare Circus. Explore a beautifully nightmarish world, fight enemies[,] and solve puzzles in this action RPG. We don’t have a release date yet, but I’m keeping an eye on this one.

After a short Toge Productions spotlight, we moved on to FunGuys Swarm. This Food-infused Bullet Heaven gives huge Plants Vs Zombies vibes, but less zombies and more mutated veggies and fruit. FunGuys Swarm is a part of the Steam Next Fest, so keep an eye out.

Another Rogue-like popped up next with Bossfight Tactics. This side-scrolling turn-based Rogue-like has you tactically using your party members to fight your way to – and defeat – the boss. No word on a release date for this yet.

Is fishing your thing? Apparently, Weyrdlets is getting a fishing update. The “Fishing and Friends Summer Update” will let you cast a line alone or with friends to catch all sorts of fish. There is also new multiplayer functionality (including a chat function) so you can coordinate your fishing expedition easily. This update is coming soon, so Weyrdlets fans have a lot to look forward to.

If Eldritch horror is more your thing, The Fractured Shimmer might scratch the itch for you. Solve puzzles in this pixel point-and-click game coming soon to PC.

Next up is an emotional 2D-3D shifting adventure game called Loading… This game follows a boy exploring his brother’s death through an all-night gaming spree. You can wishlist it now on Steam.

Ever wanted to eat the rich? Now you can! Eat the Rich is a social deduction game where you can play mini-games to get richer, sacrifice your friends, and more! Eat the Rich will be available on Steam on July 23rd, 2025.

13Z: The Zodiac Trials is not a story about a serial killer. Ok, terrible Zodiac joke aside, I’m really interested in this action game from Mixed Realms. The Zodiac Trials is an action Rogue-like that can be wishlisted now, and I am definitely keeping an eye on it.

Grim Trials is another Rogue-like, this time focused on a girl trying to earn her way back to the land of the living after her untimely death. You can wishlist it now, and I am very curious to see how this turns out.

Overhours was next and seems to be a workplace defense game where you place traps and try to survive waves of enemies. It isn’t really my sort of thing, but I can see the appeal anyway. There is a Steam Demo available now.

For Cat Quest fans, the “Tavern Tales” update is coming to Cat Quest III! New crewmates, tough challenges, and more await! The “Tavern Tales” update comes June 26th, 2025.

Xbox popped into the chat next for a quick message. Well, less a message and more of a montage of games previously shown that would be available on Xbox. I have mentioned most of them already, but some weren’t clear right away. There was also an inevitable Game Pass advert.

Next up is an interesting one. Have you ever wanted to bathe monkeys? No? Ok, well, this might be a hard sell. Bathhouse Creatures is a Bathhouse management game where you build bathhouses for guests such as ducks, monkeys, capybaras, and more. Did I mention it is available now? Seriously, go bathe some animals, the game is on sale until June 16th, benefiting whale and ocean wildlife conservation.

Another action game to add to my wishlist popped up next, called Burning Sword: Death Sun. You can play the demo now and enjoy kicking pieces of the environment at enemies. Seriously, there’s a lot of that.

Upin & Ipin Universe is an adaptation of a Malaysian animated children’s show series, but I would also describe this as a “childhood simulation game” where you play as Upin and Ipin while they explore and experience various parts of childhood, like cooking with their grandparents, etc. You can wishlist it now on PC, but it will also be available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Lost and Found Co. is a game that is practically what it says on the tin. You go around finding things and people. It is more than just an I Spy simulator, though; there is a story with a cast of colorful characters involved. You can wishlist it now and play the demo before it is available later this year.

The showcase ended with a surprise announcement for No Straight Roads 2, which is now in development for PC and consoles. Overall, this showcase was pretty solid, with lots of great indie announcements that I’ll be keeping an eye on. What was your favorite? Let us know in the comments.
