No, I’m not talking about your cousin’s favorite K-pop group. With Shinobi: Art of Vengeance releasing on August 29th, we’re getting more and more details about the return of the classic franchise. Today, we got two trailers detailing a bit more about the game.

First, Sega released a trailer involving Neo City, one of the many hand-drawn stages for the game from Lizardcube. This follows the previous “Oboro Village” trailer, detailing the Oboro Village stage that was released a little while ago. Sega also released a behind-the-scenes trailer showcasing how they are bringing Shinobi: Art of Vengeance to life.

Here is what the press release says about Shinobi: Art of Vengeance:SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is an exciting new 2D action platformer set in a uniquely illustrated world created in collaboration with Lizardcube, the studio behind the acclaimed Streets of Rage 4. SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam[,] and Nintendo Switch on August 29, 2025[,] and is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S[,] and Steam.

I’m excited to play Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. I had a Sega Genesis as a kid and played quite a bit of the early Shinobi games that were released for the platform. I think it’ll be interesting to see a semi-modernized version that isn’t like the Shinobi and Nightshade games released for the PS2.

For a classic franchise like Shinobi, having a new game with such care and detail like Art of Vengeance is an exciting thing. August isn’t all that far away, and this behind-the-scenes trailer gives us an idea of what’s going on while we wait.
