I think there is trouble when I actively go out of my way to find the 5th track of Waylon Jennings’ Ol Waylon, or the 3rd track from Elton John’s Honky Château. Don’t worry, I balance it with the 7th track from Queen’s The Game too, so swings and roundabouts. The reason I’m listening to those three songs is probably well-known to long-time readers (and my editors) as I’ve covered the PC Gaming Show for a couple of years with the contempt of a serial killer in the making. No, I’m never excited to cover it and its announcements.

As revealed yesterday, my yearly nightmare continues to haunt me as the 2025 PC Gaming Show will be presented by Sean “Day[9]” Plott, Mica Burton, and Frankie Ward. Frankie can do no wrong in my eyes, especially after that Maneater joke a few years ago, and I don’t mind Mica; her dad is (apparently) a lovely blind man who is friends with robots and reads to children. Sean and the producers, however, constantly make me want to chew on bricks, otherwise, I’ll go to jail. This year I’ll be eating my brick on Sunday, June 8th.

The press release went on to highlight that the “[livestreamed] showcase will feature over 70 games from publishers such as 11 Bit Studios, Aspyr, Astra Logical, Big Blue Sky Games, Blumhouse Games, CCP Games, Channel37, Chasing Rats Games, Cyber Temple Games LLC, Dear Villagers, Devolver Digital, Level Infinite, Failbetter Games, Fair Games, Game Source Entertainment, Ghost Ship Publishing & Gameswing, JofSoft, KRAFTON, Inc., Megabit, People Can Fly, Peculiar Pixels, PlayFusion, Playstack, Red Rover Interactive, RocketWerkz, Saber Interactive, Shiro Games, The Arcade Crew, Treehouse Games, Ubisoft, X.D. Network Inc. and many more.

As I’ve stated before in a pointed rant, only hampered by my inability to swear and say very dark jokes here, when the PC Gaming Show accepts what it is, which is that 2018/2019 showcase, then it is ok. A quick run-through of upcoming games, maybe a short and direct interview, and practically ignorable ads. What no one needs is these hour-and-a-half, two-hour-long skits broken up by game trailers that are slow and boring. The only thing breaking that up of course is the ads for the big giveaway of a PC that’s, as Regina George would say, fugly. The press release continues:

The PC Gaming Show will also include building a state-of-the-art PC during the show — and then giving it away to one lucky winner! The [top-of-the-range] PC, dubbed ‘The Rig’, will include parts from AMD, GIGABYTE, HAVN[,] and others. If you love your hardware this is one not to miss!” Oh yay, I can’t wait for that tasty brick.

Each presenter gave a statement on the announcement, with Sean Plott saying: “I’ve had the privilege of hosting the PC Gaming Show for the past decade, and every year, developers continue to raise the bar. On June 8th, we’re highlighting over 70 upcoming games, from indie to AAA, along with a custom PC build that will be given away during the stream.”

Mica Burton would go on to say: “I’m super excited to be back presenting the PC Gaming Show with Sean! We have so many incredible games to show you, including world premieres and new looks at some of the hottest games coming out soon. They even let me hit something with a hammer this year! Join us on June 8th.”

Then, of course, Frankie Ward closed it out with: “This year I’m back to host both the pre-show and our custom PC build during the main event. Will everything go to plan, or will we end up with thermal paste all over the place and a bricked motherboard[?] Tune in to find out!

The PC Gaming Show will take place on Jun 8th at midday PDT, 3 PM EDT, 8 PM BST, and 9 PM CEST or your local time relative to those. The livestream of the PC Gaming Show will be available on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter (we all know it’s still Twitter), Facebook, PC Gamer, GamesRadar+, GOG.com, Steam, and the Chinese streaming service Bilibili. Here is to any fake sense of hope that this year won’t be a series of needless Dune skits or whatever else makes me want to take a long walk off of a tall building.
