Sea of Stars to Receive Free DLC Update

One of the most charming and fantastic indie gems to come out within the last couple of years was undoubtedly Sea of Stars. Developed by Sabotage Studio, the game is a true love letter to classic retro JRPGs featuring polished visuals, gameplay, and world design. I was quite happy to hear that more content will be coming to Sea of Stars sooner rather than later.

The “Throes of the Watchmaker“ DLC update will add around eight hours of new content focused on a new questline. As you may have guessed, the new quest will involve the Watchmaker himself, the legendary architect of the Clockwork Castle. Within this quest, players will explore Horloge, a miniature world created by The Watchmaker and under threat from a sinister carnival event held by the mysterious Puppeteer. The game’s protagonists, Zale and Valere, will be joined on this adventure by Arty, a mechanical construct able to unleash powerful ranged attacks. Just like the main game, this DLC adventure will also be fully compatible with three-player local and online co-op, allowing your friends to jump in and out at any point.

Alongside the new playable character, this adventure will also feature new classes themed around the carnival, such as Juggler for Zale and Acrobat for Valere. You can also expect a myriad of new skills, enemies, dungeons, and puzzles to solve during this questline. The “Throes of the Watchmaker” narrative will be available after completing the main game, but will tell its own self-contained storyline that promises to be just as engaging. Additionally, composers Eric W. Brown and Yasunori Mitsuda will once again lend their talents to an original score for this adventure, which is sure to be fantastic. This DLC update will be available for free starting May 20th, 2025. Sea of Stars is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
