There are times when I wonder where people find the stupidity, then I look at the news daily and realize that everything is right on track (not a pun). Announced on Tuesday, GIANTS Software and London-based Straight4 Studios have revealed their new sports car racing sim game, set to release later this year. What gets me, however, is that some annoying sod thinks its funny to tag Project Motor Racing (the most generic title ever) as a farming sim. Well done, you’re the reason I hate people.
“Published by GIANTS Software and developed by Straight4 Studios, Project Motor Racing ignites all the passion, beauty[,] and intensity of professional motorsport,” the press release says. Before going on: “The racing simulator will hit the track in fall 2025 with 70+ vehicles from 10 racing classes and 27 track layouts.
From today’s radical LMDh hypercars to iconic legends from motorsport’s rich legacy, each car is meticulously recreated and licensed from the world’s top car manufacturers like Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and Audi.
Each class has been curated to ensure definitive grids of motor racing heroes from today and yesterday, from LMP to turn-of-the-century GTs, from today’s GT3s to 1970s sportscars. With action[-]packed 4-class racing across 27 scanned, global tracks, Project Motor Racing is a motorsport-first simulation.” I can already hear the internet salivating to bemoan tiny inconsistencies or handling that isn’t exactly like something else they enjoy.
Speaking on the player experience, the press release continues with: “From sim racers to first-time racers, Project Motor Racing boasts game modes for everyone: from Single Player Career Mode to in-depth Online Racing, from fun leaderboards to packed Full Race Weekends.
An immersive racing experience will put drivers into the cauldron of a racing cockpit with visible G forces, heat-haze, braking forces, and dirt, alongside sound design that captures motor racing’s true ferocity. ‘True2Track’ will allow racers to experience the authenticity of every track with dynamic weather conditions, adaptive racing & drying line, and a 24-hour day/night cycle.“
To keep the purists that care so much about the physics happy until they have a crash, the press release also boasts: “Project Motor Racing will also feature sim racing’s newest physics engine, built from the ground up. Running on the GIANTS game engine, it delivers unmatched handling realism at 720Hz, with more natural, non-linear throttle control alongside precise FFB taken directly from the tie rod, and out-of-the-box peripheral optimization.
And with the ‘Factory Driver Program,’ every car’s handling is painstakingly tested and approved by the world’s top racing pros to assure authentic handling precision.” With promises like that, I’d be hiding for a week after launch to let the dust settle soon enough. A whole new physics engine and promising the best of the best experience? I’m sure there are a couple of hundred (thousand) angry wannabe sim racers who play F1 games that could set you straight on that confidence.
GIANTS Software CEO, Christian Ammann, said of Project Motor Racing, “This is the next gear for GIANTS Software: Moving forward, we will be recognized not only as the creators of Farming Simulator but also as the publisher of Project Motor Racing. Our strong collaboration with Straight4 gives me full confidence that we’ll deliver an exceptional experience for all sim racing enthusiasts!“
While Ian Bell, CEO at Straight 4 Studios, said of the announcement, “This is not about driving. It’s about racing. With our streamlined approach and what we consider to be the most authentic handling model we’ve ever created, Project Motor Racing is both a nod to our genre’s rich legacy and a big step into the next era of simulation.“
I’m excited to see what’s to come from Straight4 Studios and GIANTS on this one, though it would be nice if Steam pages and tags weren’t vandalized by children. Project Motor Racing is set to release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S “this fall.” Pre-orders (never pre-order!) aren’t available on Steam at the time of writing, but are available through the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders get you access to the GTE Decade Pack, which “features 7 extreme examples of high-performance cars racing in one of the most thrilling and competitive classes in GT racing history.”
