When you think of some of the worst titles in gaming, you probably think of the ones you don’t fully remember because the title is always slipping your mind. If a title can’t spark a memory of that game you loved as a kid, or that you are excited to play in several years after it was first announced at E3; then what’s the point? On a personal stance, this is the case with Death Stranding, a game I mistake for Death Standing. The main difference is that in Death Stranding you’ll see Norman Reedus nude on a beach, In Standing, he’s a stripper down on his luck.
Joking aside, we don’t know what Death Stranding really is. We’ve seen clips of Reedus naked on the beach, in a hazmat suit being attacked by the invisible monsters from Bloodborne that are a result of climate change; and we’ve seen Guillermo del Toro do whatever it is Del Toro does. It is a strange game that has many fans of Hideo Kojima yearning for more and more. However, being that it is a Kojima Production there is nothing we know for sure.
Though, the melting pot of madness that is Kojima has just gotten a young woman named Alice and a purple striped cat. According to a user on Resetera.com Death Stranding was listed in Playstation’s exclusives list; however, the same list as of writing does not feature Kojima’s simulation of Norman Reedus laying naked on a beach, otherwise known as Death Stranding. If you use the Wayback Machine going to May 26th, this is before the release date was announced, it was listed as exclusive. Now? It has vanished.
The URL linked above is for the Australian Playstation site, though it is also gone from all Sony/Playstation-owned sites as far as we can tell. This has, of course, raised some eyebrows. Some are speculating a PC release as it is a Sony Interactive Entertainment published game. To this, I’d like to remind some of the agreement between Sony and Microsoft to work on Cloud gaming for next generation consoles, which could be showing the ties strengthening. This is of course speculation, though given that exclusivity has gone from the game, who knows?
Well, we might soon enough with Geoff Keighley announcing that he’s hosting some sort of show during Gamescom this year. Just the other day it was announced that on Monday the 19th of August, Geoff will host “Gamescom Opening Night Live,” featuring world premieres from several publishers. Though on a stand-alone announcement came from Keighley stating Hideo Kojima will be live at the event in Cologne; bringing exclusive information on Death Stranding. With the PS4 release set for November 8th, we may get the news some are waiting to hear.
